So you’re seeing a temperature warning on your screen suggesting the phone needs to cool down before you can continue using it? If no, your phone is NOT overheating. But keep in mind, you likely just set up the phone and for a few days, the phone is working in background to index the millions of bytes of data. And you’re likely doing things on the phone at the same time, like using the camera, which uses the battery harder. Every year, when a new iPhone is launched, people come here in the first few days saying their new phone is overheating, when it’s just working harder initially. Give it several days to let it finish it’s normal housekeeping tasks.
for the battery I think the main cause is always display on, but it's really hot when i watch youtube, I'm not sure if it from IOS or the hardware.
What did they do for you
I’ve been to Genius Bar twice. Factory reset and diagnostics. Nothing wrong with phones. Says since no warning signs coming on it’s “normal” very frustrating
Did they do anything for you
They are telling me it’s normal and unless a “warning” comes on the screen it is typical for a phone to get hot when running programs like social media and videos
My iPhone 16 Pro just started overheating watching YouTube
Mine too.
I picked mine up a few hours ago and it’s rapidly overheating as well. Unfortunate to spend this kind of money and issues on day 1
I got the 16pro an hour ago, and this was the first thing I thing I noticed! The phone got was extremely got just after activation.
Just picked up my iphone 16 pro today (10/5) as well and noticed how hot it hot when charging. Wonder if just this particular phone or they are all like this 😭😰

This is disappointing, I will have to return it.
My iPhone 16 pro (bought a week ago) also getting too hot while connected to car through wireless CarPlay. At that time Battery also drains heavily. Unsure about the reasons.
Any confirmation on this statement?
