So you’re seeing a temperature warning on your screen suggesting the phone needs to cool down before you can continue using it? If no, your phone is NOT overheating. But keep in mind, you likely just set up the phone and for a few days, the phone is working in background to index the millions of bytes of data. And you’re likely doing things on the phone at the same time, like using the camera, which uses the battery harder. Every year, when a new iPhone is launched, people come here in the first few days saying their new phone is overheating, when it’s just working harder initially. Give it several days to let it finish it’s normal housekeeping tasks.
There is no “heating problem.”
It's normal for your phone to heat while charging, and other power usage depends upon apps you are running and the signal strength to your cell tower.
Unless you see a thermometer and your phone shuts down, it is not overheating.

Unless you see a temperature warning, your phone is not overheating.
Your other symptom sounds like your case is constantly activating the Camera Control button.

When did you purchase your iPhone? It’s normal for any iPhone to produce more heat for the first 3 to 5 days of ownership. The extra heat is a byproduct of the processor’s, battery and modem working more to sync, update, and index apps, photos, videos and much more.
I received my phone on Friday and noticed it was overheating. The overheating has continued to be an issue. I scheduled an appointment at the Apple Store to see if there is anything they can do.
My new apple iPhone 16 pro overheats when using camera and charging. Called apple today not a word when I told them about it overheating, Everyone should call them
Yes I’m going today to replace swap it out since it’s within 14 days of purchase. After that no. I was on the phone with them for a while yesterday. They won’t admit that others are having this issue
Having same issues and received my 16 Pro Max 2 days ago. I checked with thermometer and got a reading of 102.2 near top by camera. Middle of the phone was 100.3 and battery was at 38%.
new models usually overheat whenever they are activated for 1-2 weeks . It is always expected as the softwares are running in the background and data is being transferred
I've not had that happen and would look at which apps are using a lot of battery.
Unless it shuts itself off, what you interpret as "overheating" is normal.
I have an iPhone 16, I am noticing that the phone is getting quite hot to the touch while using the phone. Texting, camera or just checking emails. Last night when I was charging it for the first time, it had been sitting in the charger for a while and when I went ti touch it. It was hot
Hi, i have the same issue. Today in carplay after 30 min, phone was very hot, yesterday during watching ip cameras too and after 10 minutes in youtube i feel on fingers how it starts to be hot. I worry about degrading of battery due to high temperature. I switched from iphone 15 pro and no such issue with the same ussage. Some frustrating issue…
I noticed the same. Heats up easily and even just while browsing or reading something. Battery life is also far from “insane” like I’ve seen touted everywhere. I see a very quick percentage drop, in particular when taking pictures. Going to a hot country this weekend, really concerned about heating issues and whether it would even last a day.
My IPhone 16 pro max is overheating but just having the message app open and the battery life is draining so so quickly. I upgraded from the 15 pro max and the battery life is significantly worse. I’m sure there will be an update soon for this but wanted to put my input in here.
The back of my iPhone 16 Pro becomes extremely hot to touch when i charge it on my new Belkin BoostCharge Pro Convertible Magnetic Wireless Charging Stand with Qi2 15W. Specifically where the magsafe charger is attached in the centre of the phone.
I have tested with the magsafe case on and off. Both tests result in an overheated phone. Very concerning.
