My iPhone 16 Pro Max overheats while using the Camera app

I have the 15 Pro Max. Ngl I love it but the overheating problem is just insane. I was thinking about getting the 16 Pro Max because my phone gets too hot but as I can see Apple haven’t done anything about this situation which means that going from the 15 Pro Max to 16 Pro Max wouldn’t change anything.. both of them gets too hot!!😢

same thing while charging, taking pictures, videos, and it's not even hot out here in France, its autumn. VERY disapointed for a 1300 euros phone. This is my first iphone and will most probably be the last. Battery is charged everyday, and everyday the phone is getting damaged, this is totally unacceptable, not to mention they sold us apple intelligence that will not be available here until a year... I feel fooled.

i also pre ordered an iphone 16 and it’s also very much overheating no matter what activity i do just as long as im on my phone for 10+ min. its the worst when im trying to watch netflix or disney plus

Same here. I talked to Apple technical support and she did a couple of checks on my battery and she told me that the system still working itself out and I haven’t made an appointment with AppleCare yet, but I may end up doing that. Thanks for your posts and best of luck

Mine 16 Pro is doing the same it’s getting hot when doing simple task on the iPhone , even typing this it’s getting hot .

ready other peoples comments there’s a lot of us experiencing this issue .

How do I sort this problem out ?

My friend ended up playing with the camera for the first time since getting the 16 Pro Max and within the first 20 seconds he was saying the phones extremely hot to where it’s uncomfortable. Today making a FaceTime a call got it super hot like holding a boiling cup of coffee in a thin cup for too long. Not off to a good start

Having the same issue here it’s my iPhone 16 pro. It gets hot very quickly and the phone becomes unresponsive and laggy. Even on the simplest of apps. Going in my settings, a webpage, Snapchat. Battery starts dropping quickly, my battery icon flashes a red 1, and the charger being plugged in isn’t recognized. I already miss my iPhone 14 Pro. Really hope they fix this, the product shouldn’t be unusable for standard tasks and swapping between safari and Snapchat. If they can’t get it together I may have to swap to a different phone. Can’t use this thing

I just received mine today and have the same issue while talking with my daughter by WhatsApp first call on this phone it too hot. And just writing this message same temperature. They should fix this asap.

My iPhone 16 Pro is doing the same thing, but not just with the camera. It keeps overheating seemingly with anything I do. Apps keep freezing, crashing and the overall performance is terrible. When I shoot a video, it takes up to 10 minutes before I can play the video I took. Battery life is pathetic, even compared to my old iPhone 14 Pro.

I am so disappointed by this device I’m considering going back to my old phone as it performs far better that this one in every way possible.

Is my device a dud, or is it the new OS?

Actually, the heating and freezing seems to correspond with interacting with video material? It’s worst when I’m shooting video, editing or viewing it, watching streamed video content or uploading/editing reels on Instagram?

Had my 16 pro for less than 24 hours. It’s been on my kitchen counter, in an air conditioned house of course, and it’s on fire. Left it alone overnight. Still hot this morning. Still hot this afternoon. It’s been on fire since I turned it on. I haven’t mailed my exchange phone in yet. Don’t think I’m going to. This is bad. Bad bad.

my iPhone 16 pro max is overheating when just being used for 10-15 minutes of youtube/instagram or even safari.

i bought it in the hopes that it would be better but APPLE has DISAPPOINTED very badly

I have had my 16pro max for a week and I’m so disappointed. Battery life is worse than my 14 and it’s overheating. Doesn’t seem to be any reason as to why.

Plus they had me upgrade my service cause my calls don’t stay connected and that didn’t work either- carrier blame apple, apple blames carrier. This might be it for my relationship with Apple products

I have my iPhone 16 pro max last Friday 27 and is being 2 days of loving the phone but it has to Mayor issues

1st . The overheating happens when camera is running and goes from cool to hot really quickly .

2nd . Battery doesn’t last too long as YouTube videos shows for more than 11h , barely mine last 8h

I’ve been using my iPhone 16 Pro Max for almost a week now and was expecting longer battery life after each charge, but I’ve noticed it drains quickly. I even set it to low power mode starting at 80% and limit charging to 90%. Despite this, I find myself needing to recharge after almost a day of simple tasks like texting and answering calls, with my phone idle most of the time. I upgraded from the iPhone 15 Pro Max for better battery life, but surprisingly, the older model performed better, even after almost a year of use. What happened to Apple’s claim of 33 hours of battery life?
