Face ID not working on iPhone after iOS 18 update

I took my phone to apple and they told me it’s a hardware problem on my phone. I mentioned that it happened on the update and she stated “no, not at all. It is your phone and we can fix it for 229 dollars”. Not a good answer Apple

Just click ‘about face id and privacy…’ view terms and conditions, scroll.. then when you go back it should allow you to set up your face ID again :)

If Face ID isn't working for you, there is most likely something wrong with your TrueDepth camera. First, look at these two articles for help. If that doesn't fix the issue, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have your camera issue diagnosed.

A. Addition to heraldleo advice: I have no restrictions set so I thought this suggestion wouldn’t work for me. But an option is to “turn off all app and website activity” (eliminates weekly reports) and this worked! I was then able to set up Face ID again.

I had this issue after the 18.1.1 update, after trawling the internet I managed to find a fix. I simply turned off ‘Require attention for face ID’ in the Face ID and Passcode settings.

because I tried to fix by resetting my Face ID prior I have had to update all the things I use Face ID to open but it’s working now.

I had same problem. One of the solutions did work but I was also experiencing high drain on the battery, it got so hot I had to switch off for quite a few minutes.

I was offered upgrade to iOS 18.2. Which I did. No overheating. No problems with Face ID.

Worked for me give it a go.

Unfortunately buddy the TrueDepth camera will be faulty and need replacing.

if it’s like my 12 Pro max then it will cost you close to £200 for Apple to repair.

Get yourself booked into an Apple genius appointment for them to run further tests.

They will give you the reason for your issues and any solutions or price for a fix.

This randomly stopped working, and then after just turning my phone off after I disabled Face ID completely I was able to reset up FaceID

It worked!!! I have iPhone 11! How in the world did you figure that out? Thank you. All I did was scroll through the learn more and went back to reset Face ID and it worked like it’s supposed to!

that worked!!!!

turned off Require Attention for Face ID and turned off Attention Aware Features. Retried Face ID and it worked!
