Has anyone noticed their 16 pro max battery draining quicker than it should? Got the phone on launch day, under Settings>Battery it mentioned some updates running in the background may affect battery and thermal performance so I waited. Now that the message is gone, I still notice the battery draining quicker than usual.

I’m also very disappointed with my battery life after a week of use.
down to 30% after 14 hours, I use 80% charge cap but this is also when spending about 1.5 hours at least charging in the car during the day and me sleeping for 5 hours where the phone wasn’t used at all. Screen is idling all the time (home and lock screen) even when I don’t use it or touch it for long periods of time, that’s barely any real drain though.
The real battery guzzler is safari. Since day one, it has been responsible for 45-70% of my total battery drain even though I just use it for searching a bit on google, looking up some info or buying some stuff (which is coupled with price checking, checking for best options available and so on) and maybe watching a short info video or two.
I just use it casually yet it drains an insane amount of battery for the light browsing I do. The other apps are less than 10%, almost all of them below 5%. But safari ends up at 50-60% usually, it’s like it’s cutting my battery almost in half.

I turned off some features in the safari options like fetching pages pre-emptively when searching for things. I also installed adguard though that doesn’t seem to have helped much except make my experience better.
I’ve now made sure to stop a lot of apps from background refreshing when I don’t need them to, turned off location services for apps that don’t need it for my uses, also turned off the majority of the system services location tracking (used to have them off but apple turned them all on again, maybe with the ios update or perhaps due to changing my phone). I also turned off mobile data background refreshing and stuff like that so it only does it on wi-fi. For always on display, I turned off the wallpaper since I just want the information.
A lot of small battery drainers add up to a lot in the end.
I honestly expect that the battery draining is also due to ios 18 being new and there are probably some bugs and unoptimized parts, especially with the AI stuff, that needs to be fixed gradually.
Ordered a wireless charging powerbank to avoid ever having battery anxiety, easy to bring along since it doesn’t need cables. I will rarely need to use it though.
I’m still happy with my battery time overall, because I came from a iphone xs max, 6 years old. Still has good battery health at over 80% but thanks to new software, it would be drained of battery after a few hours of use. This one, even if used heavily, will last me all day even with the 80% battery limit. Unless I use it nonstop with safari of course. Without safari, I could use it nonstop and still have some battery left at the end of the day.
i just feel a bit tricked since they claimed 33 hours of video watching while I can just barely squeeze out a full day with 80% battery and at most moderate use. I realize they did their tests in super optimal conditions, probably with every kind of other process stalled that will be active in normal use and probably having pretty low brightness (if I wanted to use more brightness than around 40-50%, my battery would drain A LOT faster, that’s true for both my macbook pro and phone), but it’s misleading since no one will be getting 33 hours in a real life scenario. Probably at most around 20 hours continuous use if optimizing settings and not using battery guzzler apps without too much brightness.
I hope apple fixes the issues soon, this is clearly not a hardware problem, it’s a software issue.
I am also facing issue with iphone 16 pro, battery is draining very fast. my iphone 14 was better than this. if i get the option to return iphone 16 i will surly return it. very bad experience.
i also changed some setting to save battery Eg: Stopped all app running in background. chosen dark theme, always on display is off and more.
i done understand why battery is draining so fast and what is the use of these features if we are disabling them.
Phone fully charged early morning and almost drained at the afternoon. 8 hours of taking pictures, Facebook, Instagram, one call and 13 percent left. This is a disaster. My old iPhone 12 with old battery performed this way
I bought the iPhone 16 Pro Max on launch day. After the initial run, I got an update of iOS 18.0. Then later I'm experiencing a massive battery drain issue. It's even draining quicker than my old iPhone 8 Plus. Even just for calling it's like reducing quickly like 100, 99, 98, 97,... Is this issue related to hardware or software? I chatted with the online support; they suggested the usual things for the old phones for new iPhones. It's too disappointing. Do I need to wait until the next update?
Or can I go to the nearest service center? It's just only 4 days since I've been using this iPhone.
My battery has drained from 100% to 70% since I woke up 2 hours ago. I have a 16 PRO and I can tell you this will be my last apple phone. $1300 for a 512 mb phone and I have to charge it at least twice during the day. Disgusting.
To be honest I had my 16 pro max Friday 20/09/24. Charged it to full Sunday night and have not had to charge it and it’s now Tuesday 34/09/24 and still on 60% so I’d say it’s fr better but I was upgrading from 13 pro max.
So it’s the 25th of September now here in N.Z., and it seems like the battery draining on the new iPhone 16 Pro Max still happening, atleast to mine. I thought I’ll give it a couple a days like what the other says also in other forums but, it’s still draining fast.
Any update on any of you guys regarding this matter? I thought the new iPhone can go up to 33 hours seems like it’s only going half of that.
Originally ordered an iPhone 16PM and couldn't handle the size/weight. I returned it on launch day, and switched to the regular 16 Pro. It's now Tuesday evening and all I've experienced is battery drain on battery drain. I've charged the phone to 100% and taken it off the charger at 6:30AM. With CarPlay for an hour, nav for 30 mins of that, music, and some texting the phone will be in the low 50% before noon. Today it was used even less and I was seeing numbers in the mid 40's. I've never been more disappointed in a new phone as much as this. I have purposefully not sent in my 15 because of how unhappy I am with this. It's literally pointless to have all this tech in a phone that has to be plugged in so often I feel anxious leaving the charger. I could turn off AOD, I could limit frame rate, but why? I should just have a standard model if I'm turning off all those features. Today I used the camera to take some shots of my daughter's soccer game and it drained 30% using the camera. How in the world should I be excited for Apple Intelligence when the battery WITHOUT said headlining feature isn't even available????? I feel like that's only going to make this even worse. I don't know what to do, but I need to make a decision quickly.
My 16 Pro Max is lucky to get 8 hours. Apple and testers say somewhere around 18 1/2 hours of screen on time is what people should be getting. I guess that’s if you have a battery booster pack hooked up from Home Depot.
On the launch day of the 16 Pro max I went and gave my 13 Pro Max to my daughter. It had 84% battery health left after 3 years and still out performed this 16 Pro Max for battery time. I got a new battery installed at the Apple Store for my daughter and…. Wait for it… she’s getting easily 1 1/2 days between charges on the 13 Pro Max now on iOS18!!
The 13 Pro Max is certainly one of the best iPhones ever released.
I’m sure Apple will address this issue as this is their flagship phone and you can’t irritate high end customers more than they already have given the fact they shipped the 16 Pro & Max without Ai.
Apple should bring back an Ai version of Steve Jobs to run the company.
Yes same as well- 16 pro max battery is not as good as advertised. Really hoping this issue is fixed.
i am thinking it is because I transferred all data from my old phone and did not set up as a new one.
I started using my ip16 pro straight out of the box at 1500 and my phone got to 20% at around 2100 and kept it on charger overnight. Today is my second day using it and it only ran me 12 hours ish before I got to 20% again :((
Same problem here. My 16 pro drains the battery so fast. I decided to try the iPhone this year after using Android for a long time. I am very surprised and worried about the battery, while I am reading this post my battery went from 71% to 67%. This is insane!
Mine 16 pro Max battery is also draining A LOT faster than my iPhone 13 pro Max.. I wanted to check the batteri status in the settings to see the procentage, but it just keep loading? Anyone who can’t see it either?

Yes I am also having issues. Got it Monday after launch and it can’t keep a charge any longer than my previous phone. Very annoyed about it.
to compare my husband also got his on the same day and has no battery issues.
My IPhone 16 Promax battery is also draining faster than my previous IPhone 14 Promax. I had the new phone for a week. Kept the battery to maximum charge of 80% as suggested by the professional during online session and is not helping
