Audio mix malfunction on iPhone 16 Pro Max

I found a resolution. I have a second response below and a response to the original question and I’ll also post it here:

Apple Store has the resolution by hard reset to your phone and removing the software from your device, then they will have to manually download it at the store for you again.

I upgraded and pre-ordered the iPhone 16 Pro Max 1TB and was told by phone reps that I needed to exchange that one because it could be a malfunctioning one, so I did. Essentially, it did not resolve the issue so I made an appointment at the Apple Store, and apparently the issue is with the iPhone 16 restore from backup or other device when transferring the data from your cloud and restoring from back up. They had to do a hard reset on my phone to reset it to factory settings and when I signed in to my Apple account, everything worked fine when I did not restore from back up. I had to skip the restore, and if I’m not mistaken, the Apple representative at the store informed me he had to remove all of the software from my phone and re-download the software from the Apple Store. The total process took about an hour and a half and I had an afternoon appointment. Having all of the excitement about this rollout, I hope for future purchases that Apple is able to resolve this issue because that is the exact reason I’ve been with Apple for so long is that I have access to the cloud and restoring all of my apps and everything from back up. I did have to manually download each app individually, but the upside of this is I got to eliminate a lot of junk that I had on my phone that I really didn’t need and wasn’t using. The contacts and any of your standard Apple data will restore once you sign into your Apple account, but your files will have to be manually downloaded from your cloud on your device if you need them on your device, and that did resolve the issue and now my phone works perfectly audio mix and all. You are able to hear the mix while mixing. It’s freaking cool. All of the new text features. I love it.Just waiting on Apple AI now.

I got the solution!!!!! and it works like a charm!

I turn off the vocal shortcut feature in accessibility settings than it works. I can hear the sound now using Spatial Audio mode!

I’m having an issue with the sound when watching YouTube videos. In landscape, I notice the ear speaker is continuously lowering and hiring in volume as the video is playing. It almost sounds like a frequency sweep going up and down. Anyone else have this issue?

I am having the audio mix issue when my phone is Bluetooth connected to my car (Sync on a Ford Edge). If I pick up the phone and it wakes up the audio volume goes way down and seems tinny like it went from stereo to mono.

I am having a similar issue. The difference is, when I am attempting to edit my recorded videos using the audio mix editor, I am not able to hear the edits while actively editing, nor am I able to hear any changes on playback. Furthermore, when I attempt to playback the video, there is no playback at all. I am really hopeful and trying not to regret relinquishing my 13 Pro Max.

Have exactly the same issue with my iPhone 16 pro, when I change to anything different from standard there is no playback or sound possible... I think it has something to do with transferring your old iPhone to the new one. Or is there anyone here with this issue who has set up his iPhone 16 pro freshly?

Yes I noticed this many time and today I confirmed this i have the same problem in my iPhone 16 pro max even when i play music in apple music. What can we do now? Can we go to Apple Store and tell them this issue in iPhone?

I hope Apple finds a different solution. I don’t really want to deal with a hard reset, deal with re-activation of esim, and all my MFA and authentication accounts that will need to be restored. And all of that won’t guarantee it will fix the issue.

Just change the settings of the camera > record sound to stereo from spatial audio. Looks like spatial audio is a new feature and probably it will be fixed as part of the new AI updates. Until that use stereo.

Oh my god thank you, i have finally found someone speaking about this issue. My 16 pro max is also doing the same thing…

i am battling with this thing, i cant get it out of my head, it is a costly phone and i am getting audio like this, i feel very very low about this..

is it like a software glitch?? Did you happen to find any solution for this yet??

iPhone16ProMax: I also noticed the sound varying up and down in a very unpredictable way on YouTube in certain situations. I thought it was a YouTube audio processing error. The other super-annoying thing is when I try to pinch and spread to zoom in on the vision in a YouTube video the whole YouTube App crashes.

I’m also having issues with the iPhone16ProMax and YouTube. In addition to audio and pinch to zoom issues I’ve noticed the YouTube screen (when vertical) has all the icons and symbols at the top crowded over each other. See Pic below.

Hello, i just got a new iphone 16 pro max 5 days ago and it does the same thing, called support they ran a diagnostics and said everything seemed fine. Rebooted, reset, did everything and it still does it. Have you found a solution?
