CarPlay with iOS 18 Broken

Wireless CarPlay also stopped working for me on my Skoda Octavia after updating to IOS18 (and now 18.1) with my IPhone 13Pro, while my husband’s iPhone , which I haven’t updated and still has IOS 17, continues to work correctly.

I think it's IOS 18 not your car because it is happening to so many different car makes both foreign and domestic.

If you’re connecting wirelessly, try the following.

Forget the phone on the car and the car on your phone.

Go to settings>general>iPhone reset>reset network connections.

Hard restart your phone.

Re-pair your devices.

Same problem, it is NOT VPN or other items. This started shortly after IOS 18 update. Have tried a new wire, wireless. There is an obvious problem that needs to be fixed ASAP. Carplay is critical to so many users.

No doubt it’s iOS 18 as I have two phones using the same cables and the one I didn’t update to 18 works just fine. Good chance this is impacting hundreds of thousands of people in very adverse ways. Apple needs to jump on it.

This is absolutely an ios18 issue. Like everyone else, prior to the update, my carplay was flawless. Afterwards, wired (my only option in my Jeep) carplay results in poor sound which only comes out of my driver's side speaker. When simply using my Bluetooth "media," sound is excellent. However, I can't initiate "play" at the top of the selected Playlist. This prompts me to go to "settings" with no remedy. Now I have to press "play" on the first song of the Playlist which initiates the playing of the desired Playlist. If I wish to use my Carplay for navigation, I'm relegated to a subpar music experience. So YES, Apple seriously needs to fix this!

I have a Bluetooth connection to CarPlay, and it hasn’t worked since the day I got my new 16 pro running iOS 18. I thought I was losing my mind. The lack of ability to use navigation via my phone through CarPlay nearly made me apoplectic when driving my elderly parents through a bad part of town. I’ve tried every single recommendation here. It seems awfully clear it’s an iOS 18 issue. I’d love to hear from Apple about an expected date for a fix. For reference my problems vary each time I drive and are the following: phone won’t connect, Siri doesn’t work (for anything, including making a call, texting, getting directions), can’t connect to internet on my phone, banner for receipt of text doesn’t appear, Audiobooks shows up blank, phone disconnects. Basically, it’s less than useless. It actually makes it impossible to use your phone for a call, a text, navigation, or entertainment. This could actually be a safety hazard as you could get lost driving, or you could be unable to make a call to 911. Seems like a critical fix that should be at the top of Apple’s list.

Sounds like something you should address with the manufacturer of the car / infotainment system.

Same. I Upgraded to iphone 16 Pro. My old 12 pro max connected flawlessly.

I have tried three different cables. Carplay will activate and then disconnect and then reconnect. Over and over and over.

I’m having similar issues. I have an iPhone 14 Pro and when I plugged my phone in to my car, it worked for five seconds and then my whole infotainment system restarted. I can barely listen to music now. No matter what I do my who radio restarts. I’m so sagging ****** because I can’t connect to car play via Bluetooth in my car.

My iPhone connects (wired) just fine until I updated to ios18. Now, when I try to listen to a podcast, it plays for a second then mutes. I have to touch the podcast icon to get it to work. Also, when the phone's plugged in, I can't switch to radio - I get an error message saying this action is not available. Grrrr.

iPhone 16 Pro with iOS 18. CarPlay does not work with it on either of our cars. Both vehicles are late model (2023) and worked perfectly fine with my prior iPhone 14 Pro, and still work perfectly fine with my Spouse's iPhone 12 Pro with or without a cable. I've gone through the various recommendations in this thread with both our vehicles without success. I hope Apple fixes whatever they broke soon, as I rely heavily on CarPlay.

I have a 15 pro max and updated to ios 18. I can get my carplay to connect wirelessly but now when i pick up my phone, say sitting at a light, and just TOUCH the screen the music stops playing. I have to lock the phone and then the music starts again. i have tried every single setting on the phone, the car, and nothing is working. it is maddening!!!

I have a 2024 Mazda cx3 and a iPhone 15 with the 18.0.1 update

It still works through the cord but it won’t wirelessly- the night before I updated my phone it was fine, and it works fine with my sisters iPhone 15 running ios 17.

Hopefully Apple can fix this asap
