I am unable to add my Apple MagSafe Wallet to my iPhone

Suddenly I'm getting a "Not Your Wallet" message when attaching very-much-my wallet to my iPhone. This wallet has always been mine, always paired with iPhone, always in "Find My" - until this morning. I'm wondering if this glitch has anything to do with IOS 18.

You can solve the problem temporarily with the "find my" app. open "find my",

select devices and press + button and add a magsafe device,

undock the wallet and dock again. Now the wallet is recognized,

unfortunately only until the next reboot

My stolen device protection was already set Off. I turned it on, restarted phone, no effect for me.

Are you saying that after doing whatever, running ios 18.0.1. that removing your Apple Wallet gets an IMMEDIATE notification and not just a tactile vibration response? Eventually I do get a

"____'s wallet" was detached.

Your wallet was left near ________

but not the usual quick notification.

Exact same issues on my old leather MagSafe wallet, so I brought a new one from the Apple Store ‘blackberry’ colour. Yep that’s a word we don’t hear often in tech anymore. Anyway, I’ve reported it in all versions of iOS 18.1 when in beta . I’ve removed them, restarted phone to no avail unfortunately.

Taking bad advice, I deleted my wallet from Find My, then tried to add it again. I received the message, this wallet belongs to someone else so I was completely stuck. Off to the Apple store I went as I had read others say that they were swapping them out. When I spoke with a rep and explained the issue, she told me she had not heard of that issue. I showed her and she was dumbfounded and started the process to give me a new wallet. Fun fact, if you buy any Apple product outside of your home country, they cannot replace or service the product when you get home. I bought my wallet in Paris so again I was stuck She proceeded to tell me a nightmare of a story that a man bought a MacBook Pro in Germany and the screen died when he got back to the US. They had to ship it back to Germany as a return so he could buy a new MBP here in the US. Thought you world travelers should know that. Anyway, not all was lost. She sold me a new wallet at 75% off so I ended up paying only $15. Added the new wallet without issue but at reboot, I once again received "Not your wallet". This is definitely an 18.0-18.01 issue. Without deleting it, I just added it back on. This issue appears to be resolved with 18.1.

18.1 has no effect. However, I have not had the problem with being unable to re-add the wallet after deleting it, but I have tested the over all FindMy system with both an older and a brand new wallet and neither works properly: the wallet gives only a tactile vibration upon removal, and only eventually a banner notification of detachment. Also, the location of the wallet does not update properly when removed or added.

This all started with ios 18 and has not been remedied.

A brand new wallet will not solve the issue. 18.1 does not solve the Proper and Immediate Notification issue either.
