Apple CarPlay Not Working in iOS 18.0

I am using iPhone 13 and recently I have updated to iOS 18.0. Since that day, maps are showing blank on the car when I connect through the Apple CarPlay, and a message is displayed after a few minutes on the car screen stating the location information is not available. When I start the car immediately maps are turning to blank on the car display.

I have iPhone 16 pro max and my Apple car play via cable worked perfectly with my 2019 Chevy Equinox and since ios18 when I plug my phone in it causes my whole system in my car to restart. I have tried a new cable, different port, reset my car, reset my phone, and made sure all softwares are up to date and the only thing that has changed at the time of this issue is the ios 18 update.

I hate you right now Apple. Please fix!!!!!!!

It’s more than just not connecting or tinny sounds. It’s minor glitches too. Example timer goes off I used to be able to stop it or reset it. Now I have to take my phone out because the input is non responsive even though the buttons are on the screen. Another, some people, including me, have a dedicated button to access an assistant google or Siri. This button no longer works. When an alarm goes off the buttons are cut off and aren’t visible fully. Nor are they responsive.

I don’t have vocal shortcuts enabled. I have the other settings all enabled. I’ve had zero issues connecting or hearing things. I’ve reset, deleted and re-paired everything I could. No go.

it was all perfectly fine prior to 18.

We had the same issue for my wife’s 2023 Audi Q5… this video helped. Please watch and apply the entire video and you’ll hopefully be up and running.

Still nothing from Apple. I've contacted them several times, up to 7 times in fact. I've been on the phone for hours with Apple Support to no avail. We have completed every troubleshooting option out there. Still waiting on Apple to correct the bugs. MADDENING. I wish I knew how to directly speak with a decision maker to get this fixed NOW. I purchased the wireless car play and that works ok for my maps but spotify is in and out constantly. I even purchased a new phone. I've seen on this chat stream customers who own 2023 and 2024 vehicles having trouble. So it really doesn't matter which car you have. This is 100% an APPLE PROBLEM.

To help us an apple put this in context how is it not working? What vehicle and model year are you using? wired connection?

For me personally I have a 2019 Chevy equinox. Wired connection only. CarPlay starts to work and then very shortly after the connection is established my info entertainment system/head unit freezes goes black and reboot. Have tried forgetting the vehicle. I’ve tried resetting network settings. There’s no VPN. Tried different Apple branded chords. Nothing fixes the issue since iOS 18 does this sound like your issue?

Even resetting does not help. Same happened to me. I updated the iOS and the my phone which needs to connect to CarPlay with a cable does not work at all on CarPlay. it will charge via the cable but not connect to CarPlay. I have tried it in multiple cards and same issue. other iPhones will connect to the car (which have not been updated). I have tried all the steps apply recommended including resetting the phone and nothing works. This is a major glitch Apple. you have rendered my phone useless in the car. what are you doing to fix it???

I updated to IOS18 on my iPhone 14 recently and am encountering this issue. My CarPlay worked fine via cable before. My phone is still able to connect via Bluetooth but I can’t access the CarPlay interface- mainly maps. I have also connected other phones that have not been updated yet and hey work fine. This has been annoying and a safety hazard, please fix this Apple!

I think it’s a cable issue on IPhone 16. I had iPhone 14 Pro running ios18 and worked no issue. I just upgraded to iPhone 16 with the usb-c connection and it no longer works. I also have an iPhone 13 with iOS 18 for work and it connects fine. I have no restrictions stopping CarPlay from connecting. I’m going to try another USB to usbc cable and see if that works. If it doesn’t then Apple needs to sort this issue out
