No notification sounds after new iOS 18 update on my iPhone

This happens randomly. Sometimes the sound for a text will work and other times it won’t. I have to to turn my phone off and back on again for the sound notifications to work again. Then later, the sound will stop working again. I have done all the troubleshooting. And that still does nothing. Hopefully Apple is aware of the bug and will create a fix.

I had the same issue on my iPhone 14Pro running iOS 18.2. Started after going to iOS 18 as far as I can tell. Thank you to those who responded with their conversation from Apple Support. I triple checked all settings and even tried to create a custom focus to no avail.

The solution that worked was the suggestion to go to Settings>Accessibility>Face ID & Attention, and then turn off Attention Aware Features. This finally solved the problem for me.

Thank you!

Same issue: no sound notifications for incoming texts after iOS 18 update

on : iPad Pro iOS 18.1.1

iPhone 12ProMax iOS 18.2.1

After trying suggestions on this thread with no success, I fixed the issue…

Settings-> sounds-> text tone->

I then randomly chose sounds from the listed tones, including in the “classic” menu.

After activating 8-10 sounds, I returned to my choice -> Note (Default).

Texts now arriving with the sound notification.

Hoping this remains intact

Ok! I just got off the text Apple support. Somehow my phone was stuck on “do not disturb” focus, even though I’d never set that focus before, somehow my phone had selected it as the default focus. And because it’s not really clear how to turn them all off when I want them off, I created a focus called “regular” that allows all messages and notifications. Because you can’t delete “do not disturb” and for me that was the default focus.

I just got off the phone with Apple Support and I ended up having to Delete the app (losing all data) and re-installing it. It was not good enough to just archive it. The 3 apps that I depend on most for notifications started working again after re-installing. The big issue with this approach is that it took forever to get the apps working again - Lastpass Authenticator, Okta Verify, and Vivint home security. Lastpass Authenticator was the most time consuming because I had to remember how to get the QR code to enable it again. Same for Okta Verify.

Just spent some phone time with AppleCare support, went through all the settings on the 15 Pro and found no issues. His final suggestion was to reset network settings, did that and it appears to work now for Messages and the Ring doorbell alerts.

However, I've had similar results from just a power off-power on cycle but after a while, the alerts stopped. So I guess time will tell...

The problem appeared to be somehow Bluetooth related since I could turn Bluetooth off, restart the phone and get alerts to work until I turned Bluetooth back on.

Same situation here. It's extremely frustrating and keeps happening even with iOS 18.3

Apps affected: iMessage, Mail

When somebody sends you a text, you will not get sound, or even haptics (if you're in silent mode). You will only see a small "2 notifications" icon at the bottom of your screen.

For Mail, you get no notification that you received an email whatsoever.

Focus mode on or off doesn't matter.

All other apps like Gmail, Instagram etc show their notifications just fine.

I was hoping this would be fixed with iOS 18.3 but I am sad to report the issue is still there.
