iPhone 16 Pro Freezes and Restarts

My iPhone 16 Pro 256gb was fine yesterday. This morning, it has been crashing constantly. The settings app and the calendar app are the worst culprits. Calendar just freezes, you cannot drill down to the day. The settings app just turns black and then crashes. Multiple times the whole phone restarts. I tried a hard restart to see if it was a cache issue. Didn't help. I turned off the wifi and that seemed to slightly help when using other apps. One time the settings app worked and I went to see the analytics logs. Lots of crashes in there and 1 kernel panic. Also, Siri is not responding; just hangs there with no response.

I spent 3 days transferring all the apps from my iPhone 13 Pro and do NOT want to reset it again. Getting an authenticator app configured with all my accounts takes hours. This is very disappointing.

Anyone have any thoughts or proven solutions? Thank you in advance.

Everything is working perfectly after I reset my replacement phone to factory settings and set it up as a new phone rather than restoring from iCloud backup. Since everything is synced to iCloud anyways and most things work cloud-based, I really haven't had any issues or felt like I missed anything. On the contrary, my phone has been working perfectly without any issues whatsoever. Must be some sort of issue with iCloud Backups. Very happy to have found a solution to this incredibly annoying issue.

After figuring out what causes of my iphone 16 pro randomly freezes and restarts itself, I decided to chose the "Optimize iphone Storage" rather than "Download and Keep originals" in Photos settings . Apple support confirmed also that this one will be the possible reasons of randomly freezing when you choose "Download and Keep Originals" instead of "Optimize iphone storage" . Its feel stable for me now on. I hope this will be helpful for you guys. This was based on my experience. I hope it will works for you too.

I posted several weeks ago about this same problem, and about the power boot to start it again; vol. up, volume down and press an hold power button down, which worked for me the few times it happened. I was curious about this new iPhone 16 thing that tells you not to overcharge it. Ever since iPhone 4 I just leave it charging all night with no problem. I’ve star playing the new game of unplugging it for the night ( iPhone 16 seems to charge a lot faster than my Xr). I haven’t had it happen since. Just thought I’d pass it on, though I would think it shouldn’t be a problem charging it overnight. Happy to hear any comments pertaining to this.

Have just emailed Tim and his top brass this forum and my response to see if it moves the needle on a fix!

Purchased an iPhone 16 Pro 1TB in Dec 2024 directly from Apple and unlocked. Did a restore from my old phone (phone to phone transfer VS iCloud backup) when setting up my new phone.

Have the same issue where

  1. iPhone randomly crashes and restarts when being used
  2. camera app crashes when taking a video or taking a photo
  3. contacts app crashes when changing contact app details, contact photo, poster photo etc
  4. phone freezes completely when being used and doesn’t even restarts or reboot itself. Have to wait five mins or so before it automatically does so

I have over 500GB in free space.

It’s frustrating to see from Apple but honestly not surprising as these issues have persisted with most of their new phones in the past too (I upgrade every two years). I have never been closer to switching over to Google and understand it’ll be a bit painful initially but will get settled in when I

and the switch.

Sad and disappointing from Apple at no response and/or attempt to address this.

Best way to lose customers!

I have been reporting this issue to apple. I tried everything master reset(20) times , Itune, set the phone Up as a new user. I finally broke down and contacted apple. I’ve been back and forth with support chat and in store. Apple is saying it’s my network.Well, I’ve reported this issue to my service provider (ATT). Tech support from my provider told me that apple should replace the phone. I only had this phone for a month. It’s so **** bad I have to carry a prepaid phone. Because, my iPhone 16 pro will reset, or isn’t working properly. Apple support online stated the store would replace my phone, well that didn’t happen. Even though the person helping saw my phone randomly say SOS. The apple Tech still wanted to say it my service. I know Apple keep track of a person interaction with their store. So, why is it so **** hard to exchange my phone out with the **** warranty. At this point, Apple is going to have some issues with me. This phone cost too much for me not to be able to use it. I’m at my boiling point to sell all my apple products. I feel like you guys just think people need these bull **** of products.

Had this same issue, my phone was constantly restarting and yesterday, it turned off for 5 hours with no sign that it would come back on. In a panic that my brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max had just died on me, I drove to the Apple Store. They did a diagnostic and it looks like my Logic Board was manufactured incorrectly and it came fried. They are replacing it under the one year warranty but the email I received said that without the warranty, it would be $749.00. They are going to call me back in the next few days when they receive the item. Very disappointing but relieving there’s actually something wrong and I wasn’t going crazy. If you’re still within your one year, you should go to the Apple Store ASAP and let them fix it for you.

I, too am on my second iphone 16, awaiting for yet another replacement bringing me up to three. Im told the issue with these phones is "overchargining" which shuts the phones down completely. (I dont overcharge them and am careful not to keep plugged in)..Have a hard time believing Apple or my carrier cannot fix the problem. The phones shut down completely and cannot be restarted for hours, or even days with the first (new supposedly) 16. My main concern is that I have absolutely no outside communication and CANNOT summon medical or emergency services (cannot utilize 911) should I need to when the phone shuts down. I am retired and over 65 years old..I need a working phone... I have requested an older model (iphone 14 or 15) for replacement but my carrier refuses to accommodate me stating Id have to buy another phone. I'm

not trying to cause a problem or give Apple bad press, but it seems the problem continues. ANY SUGGESTIONS??

the entire community has spoken. Where is the Apple response; more importantly: the fix …. To stop the need for restarting phones- especially a BRAND NEW 16 pro max (11/24) SEVERAL TIMES - DAILY. Seems to be worst … not better.

NO offense to user communities- but I want to know WHAT IS APPLE DOING ABOUT ISSUE AND WHEN CAN WE EXPECT FIX OR COMPENSATION FOR BEING SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT.

reading user community comments on how to restart are fixing core issue.
