iPhone 16 Pro Freezes and Restarts

Phone almost unusable, can’t open messages and it will randomly shut down and restart

Me too on the iPhone 16. And messages are sending fine one minute and won’t send the next ugh!

I had similar issues. I tried to transfer all my data from my Iphone 12, but for some reason the iphone 16 and the 12 could not talk to each other. So I went for the icloud restore, and it led to serious problems (phone kept freezing and restarting every few minutes, icons getting blank, settings and app store being all black screens or app icons being blank, etc.).

Then I decided to backup my old phone (12 pro max) on my laptop, erased my new phone (16 pro max), then restored the newly created iphone 12 backup from the laptop to the iphone 16 and the phone is now working very well.

So …. Booked in to the Apple Store at Bluewater and diagnostic showed software fault, possibly a rogue app from my install. Anyway the “Apple boy” (his words) did a full reinstall from scratch. I then reinstalled the apps I really need, and disposed of those I don’t, (did me a favour really). Since then no problem. Love the new 16.

since 9/22 when I picked up my new iPhone 16 pro max, it hasn't worked correctly from the beginning. camera app crashes, sluggish, Facebook freezes, photos freezes, iPhone gets hot. The Apple Store even swapped out my phone for another, so I know it's software. very very disappointed with Apple. Is this the beginning of the end of Apple's quality? Seems this release is half-baked across the board. Apple Intelligence? Nope. just release a phone with the software thoroughly tested when it is ready, not before.

Apple owes it to its customers to publicly acknowledge this bug and to let customers know when the new release will be released to fix the phone that we paid for.

I had to give in my brand new iphone 16 pro max in for a repair, it started with random freezes and eventually the screen has become totally unresponsive. no amount of restores or fresh ios installs fixed it. i have requested for a new device let's see how it goes

My new IPhone 16 freezes very often. I called support and they had me do what they called a hard reset. It didn’t work until the 4th time. Then they hung up. Of course it’s still happening on a daily basis. Any help out there?

I’m jumping on the 16 Pro Max crash and freeze train. I guess I should have waited a bit 🤦‍♂️. This was probably the worst upgrade that apple has done, and I only upgraded from my 14 for the new apple intelligence, as well as the USB C port.

Apple Intelligence isn't even released software wise yet. I get the consumers pressure them into developing a new iPhone every year, but maybe its time to really put some work into these designs, and not release products that dont come in the box with all the features, let alone a product with glitches.

We but the “premium” phones for a reason, and it looks like that reason is slipping away…. Better catch it quick Apple.

First time ever that I’ve been disappointed with an Apple product. My former iPhone 12 was better. My IPhone 16 pro constantly freezing and slow to respond. I’ve really had enough of it (message would have been 2 minutes earlier but phone kept freezing). Apple what is going on? This is not what I know you for

I am also having the Cellular Service drop all bars and reset as well as the freezing using an iPhone 16 Pro Max - 512.

Same problem here… 16 Pro. It was fine all day but crashes in the evening/night.

I had the same problem. Fixed after backing up to my Mac. Then restoring from the backup.

Something is definitely wrong with restoring from iCloud.

3 things can cause this irritating type action. A installed app is corrupted and or misbehaving, water damage and lastly possibly tho unlikely an infection. You can try deleting apps one at a time or resetting phone if it’s an app or virus that would clear it up some. Unfortunately last times it’s happened to me required phone replacement

I as well had issues with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. I couldn't use the camera as my phone would freeze and restart. Apple Support run diagnostics and it failed system stability. I got it replaced and the new one had the exact same issues. Both had panic logs. For the second one I also tried factory resetting it and setting up as new but that didn't fix it (Apple Support ran analytics again, same failure). I ended up returning it and getting a refund. Now it's sold out everywhere.

Same here. I've started to call it the Android experience. Sometimes it freezes for a few minutes and recovers. Sometimes it just reboots. Sometimes half of the icons disappear / are blank.

The transfer is already painful so don't feel like doing it from scratch, fixing eSims, logins etc. etc. A software fix is needed.
