Macos Sequoia 15.0 and office 365 - not responding

This worked for me: Open the Terminal and run the following commands:

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user 

sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network

killall Dock

what happens if you try to "save as" ? I too can open documents, but when I save as, it stalls out.

I have the same issue. My Powerpoint, Excel, word all of them are crashing. I am not able to perform any work. Not able to find an easy way to downgrade. Very frustrating.

I'm wondering if Microsoft has not updated Office 365 to be compatible with macOS Sequoia. Contact Microsoft to see if this might be the problem and what MS might recommend for a solution.

my microsoft problems started with 15.0.1 , it was fine before ... other apps are crashing too though so I think this is a 15.0.1 issue and not a microsoft one.

Mine is a M1 Macbook AIr 2020 too - so maybe it's a M1 MBA problem. If so, Apple should have seen that one and beta tested it.

Since the latest MacOS Sequoia 15.0 upgrade for the past few months, this "not responding" situation has made my life ****. Even the latest MacOS Sequoia 15.1 doesn't change that nightmare situation. Don't know who is responsible for this; Apple or Microsoft, but we end users are victims :-( Please Help!

Same issue still persists for me as well. I can open documents, but cannot save or save as or even close down the application other than forcing it to stop. I saw an update for Sequoia 15.0 run this morning, so I thought it would be a patch, but the issue is still there, I have reinstalled the full OFC365 for Business package again, still no joy.

My question is this: does the Apple software developer team not test these out - does the fact that the majority of business users use OFC365 not give it enough weight for proper beta testing before rolling out a new OS version?

Same here. it's very frustrating, can't open or save files, and it crashes every single time. basically can't do any work with this. Has anyone tried to "downgrade" to the previous macOS? I'm contemplating doing it.

This was happening to me as well. Created a new user and attempted to open Word and Excel using the new login. Both products worked. Logged back in as old user. Open Terminal > cd /Users/<username>/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/

rm -fr FontCache 

Opened Word successfully

Same problem here--on Office for Mac Version 16.89.1 and just upgraded for Sequoia 15.0. I get the spinning pinwheel when I try to open Word and PPT files. No difference if I open from the Finder or Word or PPT itself. Then have to force quit the Finder and/or Word or PPT and try again. Eventually it works but I cannot determine why or why not. Really frustrating as this is a basic function.

I was just on a live chat with Microsoft about this problem. They told me to reinstall. I mentioned this and other forums, and that reinstalls were not solving the problem. The response was essentially that it was the fault of Apple. I mentioned that perhaps they needed an update of their own to be compatible. I was told that because Apple has a closed system, there are often compatibility issues with Macs. Here's an idea: disclose that when you're asking people to pay for a Microsoft 365 subscription. We ended the chat with the rep telling me that now that they are aware of the problem, they will look for a speedy solution.

I found my OWN SOLUTION

It cost me new Mac Office 2021.

When you try to open those idle .xlsx or .docs files, "choose app" section, there is "recommended apps" tab.

I can't choose MS Office Excel and Word.

Change "recommended apps" into "All apps" and tick apply all

you will start to open all your files on your laptop.

I cant send you pictures for that

But I can do that later

Just download the 15.01 update , same problem for 365 on excel, power point and word , Microsoft didn’t show up to fix this , is this a revenge or something like that ? Also my widgets are gone , this issue is so frustrating

Problem solved , install a new copy of Sequoia 15.01 this morning , and first , the widgets are back, and then excel, Power point and Word, works just fine, it takes me a couple of hours, a pen drive with sequoia 15.01 installer and the problems was solved by me , without the support of Microsoft ( they don´t care about this issue ), hope you guys solved this issue with my recommendation
