Since installing macOS Sequoia (15.0), I've had a problem when I open a Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint file with Office 365 (latest version 16.89). The application doesn't respond. I have to force it to quit and open again: MS Word opened the file correctly. I've reinstalled Office several times, but the problem persists. In general, I can open one file, then application not responding.

Since the latest MacOS Sequoia 15.0 upgrade for the past few months, this "not responding" situation has made my life ****. Even the latest MacOS Sequoia 15.1 doesn't change that nightmare situation. Don't know who is responsible for this; Apple or Microsoft, but we end users are victims :-( Please Help!
Apple and Microsoft are fierce competitors, and do whatever it takes to make life miserable for each other's users. This beachball thing on Sequoia 15.1 is horrifying, but I'm sure Tim is cheering the bad code on .
Apple test Office? LOLOLOL
I had the same issue - I deleted and reinstalled, created new users as well as all other suggestions. Finally, I went to the Genius bar and they told me to turn off Auto Save in Excel. In Word, uncheck ALL option in Save Options, and restart the computer. It has been 2 weeks and it appears to be working ok.
found the solution of my case myself. turns out the culprit is the onedrive. my onedrive version is not app store version. trying some way to update it but i got no clue. so i uninstalled it and reinstall it with the onedrive of app store version. now that it's solved

This worked for me: Open the Terminal and run the following commands:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
sudo /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Support/lsregister -kill -seed -lint -r -f -v -dump -domain local -domain system -domain user -domain network
killall Dock

Other than contacting Microsoft, I have no solution for you.
I have Office 2021 for Mac Home and Business installed on Sequoia v15.0 and all of the 16.89.1 applications work just fine.
I am running macOS Sequoia on Mac Studio and Microsoft 365 ver 16.89, no problem opening word & excel files.
Tengo el mismo problema. Lo que he estado haciendo es trabajar en línea el office, las aplicaciones del office en mi Mac se quedan trabadas y tengo que forzar el cierre.

so frustrating, I´m working on office web , Microsoft don´t care about it , please let us know when a solution arrives
they don´t care about it, they send you to clean the cache, that doesn't work, is so frustrating this issue, this is my fifth day with the problem, and nobody resolves
You're very lucky. At the moment, I use a PC (windows 11) when I use Office 365
This works for me 1 time. Afterwards I have the same issue again. Do I have to downgrade from Sequoia?
