sacha1969, you should be able to do a hard reset (up vol, down vol, then hold power button).

the cable may not be the issue.

on your PC that the phone is plugged into, try a different wifi source.

from what i've personally experienced, and seen others try, there may be a security feature on the wifi.

if you have a hotspot, or another phone with personal hotspot may work.

If you already have a USB-C to Lightning cable, you don't necessarily require a USB Type-A cable to restore an iPhone or iPad.

However, if your computer doesn't have a USB-C connection - or if you encounter difficulties with the restore process when using a USB-C cable - a Type-A to Lightning cable can sometimes resolve a connection problem.

I have got this error when trying to restore an IPhone. The screen is now sitting with the apple sign and half the update line. Does anyone know how to get out of this to try the process again with a different cable?

The homepod comes with a USB-C cable though. Should I buy an adapter from USB-C to USB-A?
