Seeing if anyone else is having trouble with text message displays not showing up on car screen after iOS 18 update. I have checked all settings on CarPlay and my phone, have reset settings, rebooted my phone and nothing works. Was able to see the notifications before the update. I have an iPhone 12 Pro max

iOS 18 took out the feature that allowed you to receive text messages pop ups on your vehicle screen, regardless of what app you are using. Example, listening to Sirius xm radio, you will not get a text message pop ups, only the text sound alert. You have to have the actual CarPlay app open on your vehicle screen to receive the text pop up. This came directly from apple engineers during a troubles case I had open recently.
Exactly. This is ridiculous, unsafe and is going to cause people to quit using CarPlay at all.
I don’t even get the sound notification anymore. The only way I get the alert, is if my screen is unlocked and the banner pops down. No sound no audio chime notification no announcement.
But why? What purpose does this serve? Did Apple explain why they did this?
its by design, they stated it was for safety reasons but it’s really because they want you in their ecosystem.
Exactly my issue, spent 2 hrs with BMW GENIUS with no fix. It's an Apple issue related to the update.
Yes, I am and I’m furious! This change should be optional. WTH!! What’s next.. asking if we can talk on the actual phone? AH’s!
We need this bac. I agree. A safety issue The only thing I can get it to do is read the message out loud. Sometimes you don’t want people in the car to hear
My grand daughter told ne I had to gave my info set to apple play. I did see messages fir a week and now no matter what I do I don’t have a clue when a text comes through
