How to check iPadOS 18 upgrade availability for iPad Pro M4
When will I able to upgrade to iPadOS 18? Why has there been no communication from Apple on this issue?!

Seems really dishonest to me.... My current iPad pro is not working properly so i went to best buy this morning and bought a new M4 iPad pro... I brought it home only to discover iOS 18 couldn't be loaded which means none of my backups could be transferred.... Best Buy should never let it out the door.. I returned the purchase to Best Buy
But it didn't end there.. I then went to my local apple store where they could not tell me whether the iPad pros they had in stock were preloaded with 18... The only way to find out was to purchase one there and begin the set up in the store to find out... .Thats what i did and i ended up returning that one as well .... The best part is not one apple employee was aware of this problem that happened on 9-17.. That's appalling, When you put down over $1100 you expect that when you get it home it would work...... Once again apple employees had no clue and were selling iPad pro m4's and not telling customers of the software problem... I find that totally unsatisfactory.. So now i have to wait and search online to find out when i can spend my money to buy a new iPad

Not sure how or why you would use your Mac to update your iPad M4. Why not just download and install. I just downloaded 18.0.1, and ran the install on my iPad Pro M4 without issue.
I've read in these forums that sometimes, if you skip a few iOS / iPadOS upgrades, you might need the aid of a Mac or PC. I wouldn't think that would be the case for updating a M4 iPad Pro. (Even if you got one when they first came out, and never updated it, it would be on iPadOS 17.4.)
I had a 3 month old iPad Pro with M4 chip and upgraded to iOS 18 and it screwed up the iPad and had to get it replaced. Apparently there’s an issue so they aren’t letting any with the M4 chip upgrade yet.

If you take a little time to read some of the most recent replies to this thread, you will see that iPadOS 18.0.1 has been released for all compatible models of iPad - including iPad Pro M4.
Indeed so... as announced a little earlier in this thread.
Ios 18.0.1 is out now. Anyone wanna take risk and update. Also share with us here if it updates successfully and works properly. Im not updating unless someone here says its working fine.
There has.
The initial release was bricking some M4 iPads so it was withdrawn for those models.
Unknown when an updated version will be released.
preloaded iOS 18 machines would work if they had them..... Thanks for your feedback....
Its very had to find fresh stock which might be preloaded with iOS 18. I just bought one on Sept 25 as well and it was manufactured in May.
My apple store had no pre loaded 18's
Might have to wait till the next update from what i've seen online.
Because it’s obvious sales are more important than keeping customers informed
Got my Xfinity IPad Pro 13 m4 yesterday setup thru iCloud backup which updated OS to 17.7 and completed the backup just waiting for os 18 update.
Nonsense.
Do you have a mac you can backup your existing ipad to? If so, you can restore an ios18 backup to the new ipad running 17.7 by modifying the info.plist file easily..
Back up is on a PC, not a MAC. Was trying to restore through Itunes on PC. Also tried to do Ipad to Ipad. Can the info.plist file be changed on a PC and, if so, how and what has to be changed?
