Camera for iPhone 12 Pro Error - RAW Photos are corrupt after IOS 18 update

After updating to IOS 18 on my iPhone 12 Pro, my camera can't take RAW photos anymore. Photos taken in RAW format produce white or reduced resolution photos. On the reduced resolution photos, an error icon is shown stating "Unable to Load Photo - An error occurred while loading a higher quality version of this photo".

The only solution I've found is to switch to turn off RAW and take photos in JPEG mode. Restarts have not helped. Anyone else having this issue?

I have been having this issue but I think I found the problem. Turn off High Efficiency in the format options. I set mine to Most Compatible. I can now take RAW photos and the corruption is gone. The error about not being able to load as a better quality photo is loading is gone also. The HEIF/HEVC formats are busted with the 18 and 18.1 iOS release.

I personally do not want my RAW photos compressed in anyway so I'm glad this worked. To test out my theory, I set it back to High Efficiency and the corruption returned and I could not load the photo. Switched it back to Most compatible and the error disappeared again, and I could load the photo. So it's my believe the corruption and loading errors are due to the High Efficiency mode. The iOS update to 18 must have broke that.

Anyway, give what I said a shot and let me know if it works for you in this post also!.

Unfortunately this has not worked for me. I've always had mine on most compatible and I just dislike the HEIF/HEVC formats, and I often struggle to use them when I need to for my work. I'm still seeing issues with RAW images not saving correctly (seemingly with multiple lenses) on my 12 Pro Max.

No luck with this fix. I always had my iPhone set to most compatible. I always thought that setting applied to just non-raw photos, since I remember doing it to get rid of the HEIF/HEVC format and to force JPEG photos.

Thanks for the input though! I'm glad to hear your camera it back in action...I hope Apple fixes this RAW issue soon since it's really a downgrade in my photos.

I have the same exact issue on a same exact phone... Hopefully it will be addressed in next release because it is very annoying.

Same issue here with iPhone 12 Pro Max following IOS 18 upgrade. RAW photos show as grey and will not load or upload to Cloud. Surely a fix needed urgently

Not fixed for me either on 18.0.1. Still very frustrating, and disappointing. I can't believe that nobody tried the betas on this device type, and got this error appeared.
