I have an iPhone 13 Pro. I’m running 17.7. Are there issues with iOS 18 that might delay updating? Should I wait until a patch comes out or is it safe now? My biggest concern is the handset hearing up and battery drain.

iOS 18 is generally stable, but as with most major iOS updates, early versions can have bugs that get patched in subsequent releases. Some users have reported issues such as increased battery drain and occasional overheating with iOS 18, which is common after big updates as the system re-indexes files and apps optimize themselves for the new software.
If your primary concerns are heating and battery life, it might be worth waiting for at least one or two minor updates (such as 18.0.1 or 18.1), which typically address these early issues. Installed iOS 18.0.1 on iPhone XS and audio for podcasts and similar apps goes silent every 5 minutes. Eagerly waiting for the fix to be released by Apple.
Do you have a VPN configured or installed? Others had this issue until they deleted the VPN.

Do a Google search and see what other people are experiencing. I did and I think I’m going to wait. In response to that guy who gave you an answer already, the problems people are having with iOS 18 aren’t rumours. These problems are real. You can even do a search here on the forums to see how many people are having issues and what kind of issues before you update. Good luck👍
I update to iOS 18 now my carplay in my vw is not working properly while connected to car play. Without plug in I am in my correct location & can hear and get perfect directions-but once I plug it in to view directions-then it shows me in another state completely? I Called Apple 2x did troubleshooting from a-z. My phone works perfect while not plugged into CarPlay. It’s not the phone. What do you think happened with this update⁉️ Thank U
I recently updated my iPhone 15 Pro to IOS 18. Since then, I have nothing but problems with my phone. The camera is zooming in and out on its own and won't take pictures. The flashlight goes on without prompting. It will switch to voice recording on texts without prompting. CarPlay music isn't working either. The music plays from one speaker, then turns off. When restarted, the music then plays from the phone, while appearing on my car screen and reacting to my touch to play or pause. I'm in constant reboot mode foR my phone. IOS 18 is a nightmare!
Apple Needs to issue a fix for whatever bugs this IOS 18 update has.
I upgraded my iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro to IOS 18. The Hotspot no longer shows. I deleted and uploaded network settings which didn’t help. My other phone still on IOS 17 shows Hotspot. Also before upgrading my iPhone 15 Pro showed Hotspot.
In the photos app, I cannot select and delete photos. None of the buttons at the bottom of the screen work at all. Cannot upload photos. Cannot access any of the buttons. It is as if they are not even there.
I cannot switch the screen from five photos across to three which I prefer. I would give anything to have IOS17 back.
I don’t know but I having problems with my iPhone 14 Pro Max after update the iOS 18. I got a massage said my camera wasn’t working properly. I don’t was wrong I try a few times turning my iPhone ON and OFF but still got the message.

Телефон завис с экраном на котором горит яблоко и полоска, уже более 7 часов и не реагирует на кнопки для перезагрузки и не включается и не выключает. Что можно сделать?
My phone won’t connect to CarPlay at all. The Bluetooth works but not car play. I’ve tried all of the troubleshooting and it just doesn’t work. I’m regretting this phone and upgrade. I just turned my 14 for 16
I am fed up with apple services currently. I dont know what they are doing. I bought my iphone 15, 3 days back , updated with all the updates and my Photos app is glitching a lot. Im opening it its just shutting down on its own. Its so irritating. I have tried restarting my phone a billion times and still its not working!!! Please fix this!!
I had no issues with updating my iPhone 14 Pro to 18.0 or 18.0.1 or any other update for that matter and I have had most iPhone models since they were introduced. A minor glitch or two, yes, but they were addressed in a subsequent update.
AND I've never been abducted by aliens, I think. I couldn't resist :-)

For me, I have not experienced any of the issues you have described. My recent updates to 18.0 and 18.0.1 were without issue. If you are unhappy, might I suggest buying a different product.
As far as the photo app being rubbish, that is subjective and you are certainly entitled to your opinion. It is not mine. Generally speaking, no one likes change and I get that. With that said, you can find ten people in a thousand that think anything under the sun is rubbish.

Yes my mail no longer works, my phone battery is depleting at a major fast rate and I’m at Witt’s end with the texting issues . Apple says maybe I’m pushing the screen too hard. Been texting in touch screen devices for 15 years now never had a problem before. Update is garbage!
