iPhone not charging with car's USB ports anymore
Has there been a recent update that affects the ability to charge iPhones through car USB ports?
For years I have been charging my phone in the car through plugging into the USB port, but a few months ago it suddenly stopped charging my phone. When plugged in it keeps the battery from going any lower, but will not charge it up. I've tried different cables, I've tested it with different phones, and I've tried using a few of the different USB ports in the car with the same result. My daughter suddenly started having the same issue with her phone in her car's USB port also.
This does not seem to be a cable issue (I've tried many), the USB port (I've tried all USBs in both my car and my daughter's), a specific phone (I've tried many iPhones in both my car and my daughter's car and have cleaned the phone ports). It seems like it has to be related to an update, as this issue suddenly began in both of our cars around the same time. The car does recognize the cable and shows that is it charging, but it doesn't actually charge it up. Our phones are always updated with the latest ios. The USBs in both of our cars work for everything else we use them for (car diffusers, charging power boxes, wireless carplay, etc).
Is there a solution to this? How can we charge our phones in the car now?
