Charger Adapter Working sometimes and not Working sometimes

I own a macbook air M1 which comes with a 30W USB-C charger adapter. Everything was fine until it stopped working all of a sudden. It was working fine previously. Thought it stopped working due to some problem and was planning on buying a new one and then it suddenly started working again.

Don't know if there is a fix or I should buy a new adapter but I tried cleaning the dirt off it, using other cables and what not but it's not working like before.

It works when not in use for some hours and upon charging for a while, it suddenly stops.

Let me know if any of you guys have experienced the same issue and if so what did you do in response.

From the symptoms you described in your post, I would tend to think that this power adapter is failing and should be replaced. There are no user serviceable parts, and Apple doesn't repair them either.

If you purchased your Mac within the last year, the power adapter would be covered under the same limited warranty against manufacturing defects. However, it would need to be examined by an Apple Technician to verify that is the case ... and, should it be, you may find that you can get a replacement for little or no cost to you.
