Constant double-action in response to remote inputs

The new remote control for my AppleTV is constantly responding multiple times to one input. This happens most frequently when going through different services looking for shows to watch. It happens on multiple services including Apple's own TV service.

At present, every so often (at least once every couple of minutes), the selection will move left or right twice when the corresponding button has been pressed once. At its peak, this problem presented with the selection moving in either direction continuously with me pressing the button in the opposite direction trying to make it stop.

Every action prescribed on the website has been taken to reset the remote and increase the signal strength (the RSSI currently sways between -56 and -68), and this problem is still happening.

What do I do?

I had this same issue with one of my Apple TV units, it was a faulty remote. I went into an Apple Store and as it was still in warranty the remote was exchanged. If out of warranty it is a case of buying a new remote.

As an alternative that costs nothing you can use the remote to control your Tv available on your iPhone (if you have one).
