by the way ip adress of my Mac that is showing up in my router app is different.
the IP address of your Mac will be from a range of 'strictly local' IP address used for Routing INSIDE private networks. when you send something toward the Internet, your Router acts as your agent on the internet through a device called Network Address Translation, and its firewall discards any Unsolicited replies that are sent to it. Only responses you deliberately asked for are translated back to your local IP addressed forwarded to your computer.
these are the private ranges:
24-bit block 10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
20-bit block 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255
16-bit block 192.168.0.0 – 192.168.255.255
When you ask 'what is my IP', the expected answer is the Internet-visible address of your Router, NOT the local Router address.
Typically this will be a nearby location of your internet service provider.
