Email Alias Permanently Linked to Apple Account - Apple Won't Remove it... Why?

Apple support just informed me that there are only 'specific reasons' they would help someone remove an alias (permanently) linked to their Apple ID account (indicated by the [?] beside it). Has anyone had apple help them with this issue?

What are the 'specific' reasons they would remove it? I received another a complete stranger's personal health information in my inbox, and this was not a good enough reason. When I asked, the support person said she was not at liberty to disclose what circumstances they would approve the deletion. The only option currently available is to delete my whole Apple ID and start over. This seems bananas?

Why would Apple create something that can't be deleted? I can't understand this. Can anyone explain?

Don't confuse an alias with the primary user name for an iCloud mail account. You can only have one primary username which is the permanent identifier for a mail account. It cannot be changed. Aliases can be changed as outlined in Add and manage email aliases for iCloud Mail on iCloud.com - Apple Support

Nobody on this forum works for Apple. We only know what's in their documentation, or our own experience or what others say (which we have to take with a grain of salt). Apple almost never provides its reasons for its decisions and they don't like us making speculations about their reasons.

I have no idea to what you are referring. If there are other threads then perhaps you could direct me to them. I have to wash windows at home today and I have to have lunch so I don't have a lot of time hunting for threads using terms such as "(?)". I am not remembering ever seeing any thread like that in the 20 years I have been on this forum.

I already know apple will not delete it, I called them and spoke to a very high up support individual who told me that they only delete these under 'specific circumstances'. I want to know what those circumstances are. When its clear that so many people are unhappy with this setting, why have it?
