Installing Pre-installed software on replacement MacBook

I purchased a MacBook Pro with the Pro Apps for Education in July. 3 weeks after receiving it, water was spilled on it which caused all sorts of issues (expensive mistake carrying a water bottle in my tote bag with my new laptop). After it dried out, the MacBook worked ok with a few glitches. It was recommended to just use it as-is until a major issue came up. Recently, the MagSafe dock would not take a charge and the battery drained completely. My local Apple Store suggested 2 options: repair or replace for a bit more. I opted to replace. As I went to install all my software, I was unable to install the Pro Apps that came pre-installed on my first MacBook. I haven't called Apple yet, but is there a way to get the software back that I had purchased on my bad MacBook? They are not showing up on my Apple ID purchases.

On a side note, I changed the email on my Apple ID after I received my first MacBook. I have the email with my first order and receipt showing the software bundle.

I did call Apple and was bumped up to a higher level advisor. He did confirm I had made the purchase of the software package and tried everything he could, to no avail. He was going to consult with software engineers and call back. Because the software was pre-installed, I didn’t receive any activation codes and it didn’t show up on my Apple ID purchase history.

I did get a call the next day, along with an email. Apple provided me codes that were basically free coupons to repurchase each app separately. It worked. Now it shows up in my purchase history.

Did you change the email associated with the Apple Account, or did you create a new Apple Account? If the former, the purchases should show up in your account, if the latter you cannot transfer purchases from one account to another (but you may be able to set up Family Sharing between the accounts).

Since you have the receipt, I'd recommend contacting Apple.
