Notifications for text message notifications from random contacts silenced in iPhone

my iPhone silences my text message notifications for random contacts. What is this?

Notifications silenced, when they are not. ? I have been told by contacts, that often when they send me a message through imessage, and that 'this person has notifications silenced' in visible in the message chat. However, this is happening at times when I have NOT silenced notifications. I have not enabled sleep/focus/driving or work mode. The phone is in it's normal state, I receive notifications in other applications -just imessage is telling others that I have notifications silenced. Anyone any idea why this might be? (It's an iphone 14. Not sure why iphone SE is listed below.)

No notifications from one contact Ever since I downloaded iOS 17 I’m not receiving notifications of text messages from one of my pinned contacts does anyone know how I can fix this? I tried doing a hard reset of the phone but it didn’t work.

It isn't your phone silencing their notifications, it is the other person's Focus mode. Focuses are things like Do Not Disturb...

If you see someone has notifications silenced but you need them to see the message urgently, you can click "Notify Anyway" (this only works if the contact has enabled this feature)
