Bluetooth connection problems since Sequoia

After upgrading to Sequoia, I noticed that my Bluetooth keyboard, once connected when the laptop is turned on, disconnects after 30 seconds for a short period of time. At the same time, the Bluetooth connection for my mouse becomes laggy, and I have to turn the mouse off and on again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, are there any fixes?

If it's not an Apple Magic Keyboard then it is a 3rd party device and you should check with the vendor if they have any updates, etc. For example, Logitech has their dongle and some models also support Bluetooth. Logitech software typically updates the firmware of their devices paired to the dongle. Despite bluetooth not needing the dongle the keyboard itself might need a firmware update to handle power sleep / wake of the keyboard itself. Other keyboard brands may have their own software that may need to be updated.

Apple is very close to releasing macOS 15.1 so keep checking for updates.

As a workaround, most bluetooth keyboards will connect using a USB charging cable (Lightning cable for Apple Magic devices) that defeats it being wireless but at least the keyboard will work reliably until the bluetooth issue is resolved.

For anyone else experiencing this issue, I seem to have resolved it thought can't explain exactly why this might work so your mileage may vary. After trying a number of "fixes" posted in various forums and videos I eventually decided to shut down my M4 iMac (running Sequoia 15.5) and reboot in Safe Mode. I wanted to see if I'd continue to encounter issues with my magic mouse, magic keyboard and airpods). Everything seemed to work but then my connectivity issues would come and go somewhat randomly so didn't see this as anything conclusive; however after shutting down again and booting up as normal, everything worked as expected and has continued to do so for several days. Again, can't quite explain why this should be but might be worth trying if you're encountering similar issues.

Yes. I just upgraded last night and while I am typing this the keyboard disconnected three times.

Removed Keyboard from Bluetooth devices, restarted keyboard and it seems to be fine now.

The mouse on the other hand is no longer recognized and cannot connect even after removal and turning it off and back on again. My Apple Mouse is fine but third party logitech mouse is dead... it works on 2 other systems...

Edit: After removing mouse and re-adding it in bluetooth devices it came back up. But then the keyboard died while typing this edit - twice. and mouse died again.

I have a Mac Mini from 2018, Sequoia 15.4.1, an older Apple magic mouse and USB APple keyboard (small version). All of Sequoia, this mouse fails to scan and connect at power-up and the login screen. Which means there is no way to move the cursor at the login screen, which, when there are two login users, I cannot click my "User" icon to log in. Dead at the login screen!

So I have to keep an old USB-A mouse with cable, plug it in, navigate the cursor to the login prompts/icons, and after the system boots the OS it connects to the mouse. Weird, because the apple bluetooth keyboard almost always connects with no problem. Over time with Sequoia, it started gradually: sometime mouse found, sometimes not. Sometimes it wouldn't scan and recognize the keyboard, but that seems to have not happened recently and was resolved by a power cycle of the keyboard.

And YES I have tried switching these devices on and off, many times, to see if it would "seek and find" with a mouse power cycle, and YES they are fully charged. This is stupid, Apple broke Bluetooth, or BIOS chooses to not scan for older devices? These devices are 9 inches from the MacMini.

I'm having the same problem. Never had this before I upgraded to Sequoia, and now even with 15.5 it's still a problem with my M1 Pro laptop using Logitech Ergo MX mouse. Suddenly after a while if I'm moving a doc or a folder, it glitches and lags, and even the windows do it. Only restarting it helps. I've reistalled updates from Logitech, and the Bluetooth seems to be the culprit. When I turn it off, it turns off my trackpad too! Have to restart to get it to normal. Apple, kindly fix this issue please.

I have two sets of seenda Bluetooth wireless keyboard/mouse combo. After upgrading to Macos 15.1, the keyboard and mouse wont connect. It will attempt to connect then it will disappear from the Bluetooth device discovered section in Bluetooth settings.

connecting to iphone and ipad was straight forward

we are reaching out to the manufacturer as well to see if firmware update exists, but this seems like a common problem. we are going to update to 15.2 and we read somewhere that turning off filevault also worked.

is there anything else we can try?

I've had terrible Bluetooth issues that started exactly when I upgraded to Sequoia 15.1. This is with 3rd party devices (Logitech mouse and keyboard) and 1st party devices (AirPods Max). The mouse will sometime disconnect until I turn Bluetooth off and back on again and the headphones will often get jittery with audio constantly dropping out. This is on a 14" Macbook Pro with the M1 Pro chip.

Same, I have apple products (magic keyboard, airpods) and both stopped working, even after the update. I have to plug in my keyboard when traveling. I use the headphone jack for conference calls (so dumb). I was considering a new Macbook Air, although mine is only a few years old and everything else works perfectly so it seems like a waste of money for a bluetooth issue. Whenever I research this problem, it seems pretty common.

Any fixes for AirPods on calls? As others in various Apple forums have said- music seems to work, it is calls that disconnect. No, I don't have any other earphones. Yes, I have the latest software updates. Yes, I have use the "connect to bluetooth" recommendations. Yes, I have removed and reconnected them (so many times!).

I am also having a bluetooth issue after upgrading my Intel MacBook Pro (Late 2019) to Sequoia 15.2. For me the issue does not seem to happen on a set time frame but rather after the computer goes to sleep. At this point the connection to the keyboard (Logitech K780) is lost and cannot be reconnected (no "Connection" button on the device in settings) without forgetting the device and reconfiguring from scratch.

Note that this same issue does not occur with my Insignia bluetooth mouse, so I'm not sure if it's particular to certain device implementations or specs.
