Bluetooth connection problems since Sequoia

After upgrading to Sequoia, I noticed that my Bluetooth keyboard, once connected when the laptop is turned on, disconnects after 30 seconds for a short period of time. At the same time, the Bluetooth connection for my mouse becomes laggy, and I have to turn the mouse off and on again.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, are there any fixes?

If it's not an Apple Magic Keyboard then it is a 3rd party device and you should check with the vendor if they have any updates, etc. For example, Logitech has their dongle and some models also support Bluetooth. Logitech software typically updates the firmware of their devices paired to the dongle. Despite bluetooth not needing the dongle the keyboard itself might need a firmware update to handle power sleep / wake of the keyboard itself. Other keyboard brands may have their own software that may need to be updated.

Apple is very close to releasing macOS 15.1 so keep checking for updates.

As a workaround, most bluetooth keyboards will connect using a USB charging cable (Lightning cable for Apple Magic devices) that defeats it being wireless but at least the keyboard will work reliably until the bluetooth issue is resolved.

I just experienced this again running 15.3 on an iMac. It's not a particular device, but Bluetooth itself that stops. I loose my keyboard, mouse and track pad, all are Apple devices. It has been a very random occurrence with me and it has been over the course of years, not a particular release. Just now and then, everything disconnects for some short amount of time, then comes back.

I have lots of robotics projects using HC05 Bluetooth modules. they all worked perfectly on BigSur (Intel Mac) but on the new M1 it was very flaky on Monterey and having "upgraded" to Sequoia in the hope it would be fixed the devices will connect and communicate ONCE only then they won't connect again. They appear in the list of devices after a "forget" (the usual way to make it work again on Monterey) but now there is no way to get it to ask for the pin again. Why are Apple breaking more and more with every new update. Im seriously thinking that the next machine will have to be a Linux PC...

No solution, just a little more data:

Had a MBP M1 upgraded to Sequoia and no problems with my logitech M355 pebble mouse (I set the mouse up well before Sequoia and it was fine through the Sequoia upgrade).

I moved to a MBP M2 and tried to connect to the same logitech mouse. The MBP saw the mouse and had the "Connect" button, but it would never connect and eventually timed out. No combo of turning things off and on helped.

I tried a brand new (never connected) logitech M350 mouse and it connected right away.

Apple - 7 times while scrolling through this page for a solution, my mouse needed to be switched on and off for the Mac to remember or reconnect to it... it works and then stops... this same mouse works fine on two other computers... I dread to say PCs.... this same mouse has worked for years on this Mac... until Sequoia... Any chance you have a driver update coming since the problem originates with the upgrade of your OS and does not occur on tow other computers?

MacBook Pro (2023 M2 Pro) has been functioning without issue since upgrading to Sequoia months ago. What began as an issue with my Logitech Keyboard (K850) has since spread to my MX Master Mouse and Triathlon mouse. The unpairing is unpredictable. These devices have continued to work on their alternate channels, paired to a windows PC and iPad. This is definitely a MacOS issue. Based on timing, I cannot tell if I was hit with the but at 15.4 or sooner.

I've had the same issue. Upgraded to Sequoia 15.1 and all of a sudden bluetooth Logitech keyboard and mouse won't connect. (running a MacBook Air M1) Mine won't even recognize them in Bluetooth at all, but will recognize my Bose speakers and connect fine to it. Is this necessarily a Logitech issue? My other Logitech mouse connected with a dongle works just fine. Only the Logitech Bluetooth devices are problematic.

just updated my MBA 15 m2 from Ventura to 15.3. My bluetooth mouse loses connection after several minutes, even though its still states its connected on my bluetooth panel. I had no issues with this mouse with Ventura. so it is definitely a Sequoia issue.

PLEASE FIX IMMEDIATELY. This is unexcusable for a company that is worth $3.6 trillion dollars?!?!?

Chiming in here to say that despite troubleshooting aka restarting, resetting bluetooth, etc. my iMac that I bought pretty much a month ago won't add any other bluetooth devices. I have a Logi MX Master 3 that will only connect to the iMac via usb dongle. I have two ports on this and have resorted to a hub just so I can use an ergonomic mouse. OS is Sequoia 15.3.2 and up-to-date. Mouse is up-to-date. I wish I hadn't upgraded, but my 10 year old iMac was barely turning on with 8G of RAM. I hope something gets sorted. Right now, the bluetooth menu is just constantly "searching" and finding nothing.

I am now on Sequoia 15.4 and the bluetooth issue has still not been fixed. Should all of us now buy mouses that connect to Macbooks via a cable again, going back to ancient times. Why is this not being fixed if this has been reported 6 months ago already on this forum. It is not acceptable to having to reconnect bluetooth devices a gazillion times a day. My MacBook is on it's way to go for flying lessons if this continues.

The solution is to remove device every 5 minutes and re-add it... that is both for the mouse and the keyboard...

So you must leave laptop open to be able to use the trackpad and keyboard of the laptop. Once you add and connect, then you can close the lid. But then you have to re-open it in 5 minutes to re-add.

Sound like a viable solution.

When can we expect a driver update?

Same issues as soon as upgrading to Sequoia on a Macbook. Apple external keyboard looses connection randomly. Apple magic mouse very laggy. Logitech Lift mouse very laggy.

I changed to Apple to avoid such situations, but here we are. Been wasting time trying to find a solution for over two weeks. Who has time for this ?? And meanwhile it impacts my work. Absolutely unacceptable.
