iPad numbers : autofill error when adding rows for running totals

all Formatted to currency

start balance in C2

column D3 is amount in

column E3 is amount out

formula is

SUM ( C2 + C3 ) - E3

click on C3 and autofill for remaining columns

all good so far

Select rows 5 to 7, add rows below

ok to row 10

But row 11 now contains SUM (C7+D11) - E 11

it should be C10

similar with delete rows, I have looked through other posts and can’t figure out if this is user error or a bug

No need for SUM.

In C3, filled down the column:

=C2+D3−E3

In C3, you could also use this, filled down:

C$2+SUM(D$1:D3)−SUM(E$1:E3)

It's longer but uses "expanding ranges," a concept that sometimes can be useful.

is where I started, 🙂 before using SUM, just done a new spreadsheet and it is no different
