I just bought Microsoft Home & Student 2021, downloaded to my mac with osMonterey version 12.7.6. This Microsoft office should be working on osMonterey, but I am getting an error message that I need version 13 and later. Can anybody help me? Thank you very much in advance

Microsoft now only supports new installations of the single-purchase Office 2021 for Mac, or subscription Microsoft 365 applications on Ventura, Sonoma, and Sequoia. This is Microsoft's support policy for the current version of macOS and the previous two releases.
If your iMac is a 2017 model you can upgrade to Ventura 13.7 to satisfy Office installation requirements. At this point, Office 2024 for Mac is also available for purchase and if your iMac can install Ventura or later, this might be a better strategic choice. If you can't I suggest you see if you can get a refund for your Office 2021 purchase.

I was chatting about it with microsoft support last week and that person ensured me that 2021 is OK for me to buy, so I did...unfortunately not directly from Microsoft. I will try to get a refund anyway, thank you.
