Hearing test not available in Australia after iOS update this morning

Updated to 18.1 this morning. I read the fine print—Australia is *not* in the list of countries where Hearing Test is available. Very disappointing. I was looking forward to using iPods Pro 2 for hearing assistance.

I saw the multiple YouTube videos talking about this feature.

This is an excellent example of why you should not rely on YouTube for your shopping research. You need to actually go to the manufacture's site or into a store. Or call them. YouTube is not a reliable source of information (except possibly the knitting videos).

Thanks for the heads up when I purchased these Apple. NOT

Did you ask Apple before you bought them?

This time, I am sure they will. Probably be a few weeks. I need real hearing aids (profound loss in the higher frequencies in both ears) and have decent aids on order, but will program the APP2s with the hearing test results. My view is that even if the audiogram-programmed AirPods Pro2s do only 50% of what's needed, that's a plus, right? The APP2s are excellent for movies and YT as they are now, so can only be an improvement with the programming. And for people with mild to moderate hearing loss only, these might do everything they need right now. Hearing aids are not cheap.

Thank you SO much for reporting that. I am getting full hearing aids fitted in a week or so, and once the capacity to program the AirPods Pro 2 is given to us, I will program them as well with the audiologist-administered audiogram (probably a bit better than the on-line tests available).

I will then do a comparison of decent studio quality headphones, with the hearing aids in, to only the AirPods Pro 2s on their own. The AirPods Pro 2s can only help part of my hearing loss, because I've got severe to profound loss at the higher frequencies in both ears, but it will still help movie/TV conversation intelligibility I believe, and help with music.

Thanks Cave.

Ever the optimist and to give Apple the "benefit of the doubt" I've held off taking a complaint "external" so to speak, but if the hearing aid functionality is not included in the IOS 18.3, I'll be joining you in complaining to the ACNC and the TGA. Sometime in 2025 is astonishingly vague given that the software is already functioning in many other countries.

Dear Apple of my eyes,

I bought a pair of AirPod 2 Pro for my dad in Australia when Apple announced that the AirPods 2 Pro will have the hearing test and aid with software update.

My dad has been suffering from hearing impediment for a number of years where it makes it extremely difficult to communicate with him.

So far most of the hearing aid devices we bought for him become useless shorty after usage for two reasons (yes, even the very expensive ones). First problem is the battery change or recharge and second the pipe transferring the sound get blocked by ear wax. They need constant maintenance and since my dad is old and can't maintain these devices they become useless.

The AirPods 2 Pro was approved as hearing aid by TGA (Therapeutics Goods Administration) in Australia on December last year. Could you please let me know when would this feature be available in Australia?

Thanks 🙏
