Hearing test not available in Australia after iOS update this morning

As you can see from other posts the hearing aid function is now available in Australia. I can also personally confirm I now have it available. You must have some other issue.

You can do a hearing test as before but cannot activate Hearing mode. Apple was not clear in its announcements and would be useful if they provided an update. Is it approval by regulators or something else?

Two questions: Why was Australia not included in the release? When Australian’s be given access.

It is extremely disappointing when you look at the list of ‘haves’ when near neighbours such as New Zealand have the software let alone so many unfriendly countries to the USA.

The question is why is the TGA taking so much time to approve the hearing aid capability of the Air Pro 2? Surely it can’t be too hard to make such a decision just as so many other countries have. Is it due to lobbying from those in the audiology industry or just bureaucratic indecisiveness?

When was the last time you got such an explanation from a government agency? ;-)

You kidding me, they were so fast that, australia was one of the first places to have the vaccine available.

TGA is doing more harm than good to be honest. Just let more people take advantage of the new features, if it doesnt work, people will stop using it !!!! simple as that

The $5000 hearing Aid my father got, it's RUBBISH ! It so frustrating that we cant even have a normal conversation with him!!!

From Sydney University paper:

“In usual times, the TGA is about 120 days slower in approving drugs than the FDA. However, most studies show that there have been more safety problems with drugs fast-tracked by the FDA compared with drugs approved via its usual regulatory process.”

Not available in India but is available in Bhutan, Nepal etc. Looks like I have to go to these countries to get it uploaded on my AirPods. Can we do it through VPN when the next update is released in December

Also terribly disappointed by this! Been waiting for this feature. We just have to keep making our voices heard. Hopefully the TGA will stop dragging their feet. Hearing aids should be easily available to all and not just those who can afford super expensive devices

I did exactly the same thing this morning. over an hour on the phone to Apple support only to find out myself on google it is not avaliable in Australia. I did not need to spend $400 on "just another set of ear buds".

Agreed, not Apples fault, but they should have a big red notice on the Airpod Pro page on their web site stating the hearing aid function won't work in Australia. I mean it's not like they don't have an Australian focused web site. :-)

Darn it - I was afraid that was the case. It was my solution to a Christmas Present for someone - but will have to think of something else now. Hopefully it will be resolved before too long (maybe by a birthday in March)
