iphone 16 drops calls and won't allow calls until it cools

I’ve had the phone about a week. This never happened with my IPhone 11 Pro Max.

It’s happened twice. I’m on a work call for about 10 minutes, and the call drops. When I try to call back, the phone won’t connect. I can text, but not phone. When it happened today, I noticed that the back of the phone was hot. I was using EarPods the first time it happened. Today I noticed the overheating because I was holding the device to my ear.

I have a case on it, but I had one on the older phone.

Can this be resolved? Do I need to switch to Android? I loved my old phone and now regret the upgrade.

Get this Diagnosed by Apple:

Apple might fix it free of charge, if found to be a faulty device. Set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, it will be looked at and you'll be provided with your options. You can use an Android device, in the meantime.
