GM CarPlay broken after new phone with iOS 18

I never had a problem with my CarPlay in my 2016 GMC Sierra.

As soon as they got my new iPhone 16 Promax with the iOS 18, went to plug it in and the apple icon and the projection icon just disappeared and are no longer available even after trying a hard reset.

So if I plug it in the CarPlay screen pops up and it works but if I minimize then the screen disappears completely and have to unplug the phone and replug it in to get it to work again.

I called the company that provided me the upgraded Radio head unit with CarPlay and he said they've been getting a lot of calls about Carplay the last few weeks since the latest iOS 18 software came out.

It broke CarPlay

This seems to be a known issue with some infotainment systems in GMC vehicles and possibly other GM brands.

I understand Apple and GM are working on a solution based on feedback from others who have spoken to both GM and Apple about it.

My text messages are not popping up on my car screen when I'm driving like it use to before the 18.0.1 and 18.1 updates.

My IPhone 14 Pro was working fine in my car with the text popping up on my screen while I am driving but after the 18.0.1 and 18.1 updates it stopped working. I spent hours on the phone with Apple with no luck. After getting information from my phone, they said they would send it to their engineers and call me back a week ago at a scheduled time. They did not call back. 🤬

it’s not a problem in my 2023 Chevy Traverse. Both new phones work fine. It might have to be something with the older firmware with the GM Intellink

It's not a problem with every GM infotainment system. There's not enough information out there yet to be able to narrow it down to specific systems as far as I know.
