Short answer:

Pros:

  • It is a lot less expensive than a dedicated GPS tracking system, like LoJack.
  • Has a battery life of around a year with normal use. Batteries are replaceable.

Cons:

  • Just about useless for anything else, especially if you are considering using it to track your vehicle should it get stolen.
  • Relies on Bluetooth and the Apple Find My network. (Does not use GPS.)
  • Requires an iPhone within Bluetooth range of the tag to pick up the tag's Bluetooth signal. Often more difficult if you "hide" the tag.
  • It will "announce" its presence to anyone in the vehicle with an iPhone. In this case, it will warn them that an AirTag is "following them."
