Add ringtone to iPhone 16 from files

I created a ringtone (M4R) file and added it to my iPhone 16's Files. How do I get it to be listed in the alarms list of ringtones?

Add a custom Ringtone to your phone I have an iPhone 13. The Apple store reset it to factory settings and I lost my custom Ringtone (fortunately I had it saved on my Mac). Maybe other answers are too old, because I could not follow the answers I found on here. For example, in iTunes, I could find no Tone tab. So, how do you put a custom Ringtone on your phone? I emailed the tone to myself and downloaded it to Files on my phone (NOT iCloud drive, which is the default location for the download -that won't work). Once downloaded, verify it's in your files and then go to Sounds and Haptics in your settings. Select Ringtone and find your custom Ringtone.
