How can I order the new iPhone 16 unlocked by financing??

Hi, I was wondering if there's a way for me to buy the iPhone 16 with a Apple Card without having to choose a carrier and just buying it unlocked as I don't have any of the carriers offered by apple and I just don't like having carrier-locked phones. Do I really have to buy a carrier-locked phone and the unlock it by a third party or the company in question even if I don't even have a mobile plan with them? because for what I'am aware I need to have a plan with the company to unlock the phone in question.

When you purchase an iPhone directly from Apple, then that iPhone will be unlocked even if you buy it associated with a carrier. You can confirm this by contacting your nearest Apple Store or contacting 👉 Official Apple Support

I believe that is true as long as you do not select one of the carrier financing options. If you choose one of them, the words "And your new iPhone will be unlocked" disappear from the ordering page.

When I clicked on "Apple Card Monthly Installments" and "Apple iPhone Payments", the ordering page said that "Carrier selection of AT&T, Boost Mobile, T-Mobile, or Verizon is required at time of purchase. Your iPhone will remain unlocked."

You are correct. The carrier financing option ships a locked iPhone. I believe the OP was asking about purchasing with the Apple Card and not choosing carrier financing.

I have purchased with the Apple Card purchase option and I selected one of the carriers and my iPhone was delivered unlocked as stated in your last paragraph above. I had also contacted Apple to confirm. My iPhone works with multiple carriers.

I remember those days of SIM-FREE (No Carrier and Unlocked) iPhones and miss them.

After reading this post and getting some helpful advice, I’ve decided to go ahead and finance my iPhone as planned. I’ll probably choose Verizon as my carrier, but if I run into any issues with the phone (like it being locked and I can’t use my own carrier), I’ll head to Apple and see what they can do to help me out.
