firmware update MacBook Air 6.2

My MBAir needs update for the EFI firmware

MBA 6.2 mid 2013

I have been looking around but find no support for it.

I have reinstalled Catalina 10.15.7

But still no update firmware.

Could anyone advise please?

I am glad you got it updated. I am always a bit wary when testing new macOS that updates firmware and issues that "the screen goes black for up to a minute" info. But the main old macOS or much older macOS has never had issues running with a newer firmware.

So I usually do not have any urge to update firmware. Except when I got my Mac mini 2018 and the Thunderbolt LG Ultrafine monitor had black screen when going to recovery or safe mode (a TV via HDMI was OK). After a few months a Mojave firmware update fixed that.

You would need to install a newer version of macOS in order to get firmware newer than Catalina can provide. Apple no longer provides individual standalone firmware updaters so you must get them through macOS updates & upgrades.

The MBAir 6,2 designation is too vague since it covers models from 2013 to 2017. At the very least you can upgrade macOS to 11.x Big Sur and with the later models up to macOS 12.x Monterey. Why worry about the firmware version on such an old system?
