Is the connector you purchased MiFI (Made for iPhone)? You may have purchased a connector which isn't capable of data transfer compatible with iPhone.

Have you connected a previous iPhone to your 2013 Audi successfully? I'm pretty sure no Audi from 2013 was Apple CarPlay ready as a Google search revealed Audi didn't introduce CarPlay until 2017. So what are you trying to accomplish by a cable connection? Did you try to connect your iPhone to the Bluetooth settings in your car?

Yes the connector is an Apple connector so I'm assuming it is MiFI since I explained to the salesperson what I needed it for. Yes my iPhone 12 was connected to my Audi. ( I do not have Carplay). It was connected via a cable to the cars audio system and was working fine. With the 16 pro, I had to get the USB-C to lightning adapter to add to the connector I already had in order to connect to the phone. So that is when I got the message that the accessory is not supported.

I can connect to the car via bluetooth for phone calls, which is working fine, but not for music.
