Macbook Air M3 2024 (ERROR)

Kernel Panic on Startup After Overnight Shutdown (macOS 24B91)

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a recurring kernel panic on my MacBook whenever I turn it on after shutting it down overnight. The issue happens consistently, and the panic log includes the following details:

Error: panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe001ecd7744): Kernel data abort

ESR (Exception Syndrome Register): 0x0000000096000005

macOS Version: 24B91 (Ventura/Monterey)

Mac Model: Macbook Air 2024

Other Key Info:

• The panic seems to involve the WindowServer or memory handling at startup.

• The issue doesn’t occur when restarting, only after shutting down and leaving the Mac off for an extended period.

• Here’s an excerpt from the panic log:

Kernel data abort. at pc 0xfffffe001e87007c, lr 0xfffffe001e86feb4

esr: 0x0000000096000005 far: 0x0000000000000084

My Questions:

1. What could be causing this kernel panic, specifically related to the Kernel data abort and ESR code 96000005?

2. Could this be a hardware-related issue (e.g., RAM, SSD) or a conflict with macOS power management settings?

3. Are there specific apps or processes that could cause this during sleep/wake or shutdown/startup transitions?

Any insights or suggestions for further troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.1
