How does the Beats Flex warranty work in Australia?

Beats flex are an excellent device. Except that the microphone keeps failing. I have owned several of these, as well as its predecessor the Beats X.

They usually fail within a few months, so it's not a problem as they have a 12 month warranty, so I just go get a replacement set.

However, this time, the retailer, Officeworks (in Australia), said if a customer has repeat failures on a device, they won't replace them, only refund the money and the customer has to buy something else.

Is this an Apple policy, or something peculiar to Officeworks?

Contact Beats, Asking for a Swapout:

My Beats Pill failed 3 times times, and being less than a year old, they were replaced on behalf of Apple. Contact the manufacturer, and request assistance with finding a solution. Ask them for some tip on troubleshooting this, and ask if you can get a swapout. It may be a faulty device, and that is something that Beats may offer. They make the product. So, they'd know an upfront answer.
