MacBook Air won't disconnect from Apple TV

I used my MacBook to Screen Mirror to an Apple TV yesterday to present a presentation I was working on at school, but upon looking at System Settings > Displays just now, I found that I'm still connected even after disconnecting from the Apple TV at school. I'm currently sitting at home, nowhere near close enough to connect to the Apple TV, yet it says I'm still connected. Nothing so far has worked, I've pressed the "Disconnect" button, and I can still arrange the displays, but I haven't been able to disconnect my device.

If you have an Intel-based MacBook, try resetting the NVRAM:

Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

If that still doesn't help, or if you have an Apple Silicon Mac, see if the problem still happens in Safe Mode. It can take much longer to boot so be patient.

Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

If the problem is gone when in Safe Mode, restart back to normal and see if the issue is now corrected. If not, post back and someone may be able to offer additional suggestions.
