After a successful update to iOS 18.2, Siri's voice sounds different from the preview within settings. Is there a way to fix this? I prefer the way Siri's voice sounds in the preview/the way it has always sounded. (Australian - Voice 1)

When you say you'll use Apple Intelligence, as soon as "you" put the voice back, indicates you may think you are speaking with Apple here. You aren't. This is a user to user only forum, which Apple doesn't read for feedback.

Keep in mind this link works both ways. I have already used it to thank Apple for making Siri sound more human and personally, I hope they NEVER make Siri sound as it did before.
Siri now sounds emotionally cold, disinterested, and sadly like a fatigued corporate foot soldier just doing her job to get thru the day.
She sounds depressed, and makes me feel depresssed. I feel like I’m bothering her and annoying her with my dumb stupid requests to the point where I’m about to stop using it.
Siris responses are also weirder, more robotic, more abrupt, and there are more mistakes. Is this all happening (iOS 18.2) because I’m using Apple Intelligence?
I agree. My Australian female voice 2 was really cheery and is still on my iPhone 12 running iOS 18. But on my new iPhone 16 also running iOS 18 she’s really depressing. I want my previous Aussie voice back! 👍😊
Like Lobsterghost1 said, everyone has their own opinion. (We all know opinions are like... um, never mind. lol) I'm surprised that you think the voice sounds more "human" though. The previous Australian female voice sounded plenty human to me and a lot more personable. I used to like to ask Siri questions just to hear the smile in her voice when she answered. Maybe they should make options for the new "You again? What do you want now?" Siri and the old "How nice to hear from you, how can I help you?" Siri. lol As for me, I want the pleasant Siri more than I want the Apple Intelligence so I turned the AI off. I'd like to have it back but not with the new voice.
Can’t see how to do this - as much as I like the idea of having Siri boosted so she can be a working AI, the idea of her using this new cold dystopia version of her old voice is terrible… if I can get the old Siri back, I will do this right away
I did this as well - seems to work
The new siri voice was probably trained on tired apple engineers who naturally sounded depressed… so for many people this might be the normal state of being, but Siri’s old cheerful voice was one of the standout differences between Siri and other more robotic alternatives like Alexa or Bixby.
Would like to support Apple’s AI development, but not if I have to get depressed in the process
The new Siri accents are strange and none of the voices sound authentic. Siri now has an unfriendly attitude like she is bored and that I am bothering her. I wasn’t happy with any of them and miss the old Australian and British accents. 3/2025
It’s much worse including trailing off of some words, R’s are especially faint. Siri is not upbeat or with life. Sounds depressed, lifeless and even more robotic. Apple spent so much time and resources getting Siri right, this is a very sad day when they backward. Hoping this is not a sign of things to come!
Siri’s voice is not just different it’s depressing. I will not be using it as much to have conversations with. As one user put it she sounds like she is tired and feels hopeless working for the massive corporation without any hope for a better life. Kind of a sign of the times, but I don’t need to be reminded talking to Siri!!
Yes - this is correct. The new Australian female voice 2 is different. I feel it is serious. The previous voice was cheery and always brought me a smile to hear that voice.
I agree. The previous female Australian voice sounded younger, friendlier and more natural. Please fix this
Same with the Australian male voice… Suddenly more serious and less friendly.
Same with the South African voice. Used to be cheery, but now sounds sullen and depressed.
Completely agree. Not only that, but Siri’s voice is now completely inconsistent.
