Forced $249 subscription for Windy.app despite cancellation

I know there are a lot of desperate people out there, but a lot of comments seem to lack basic intelligence and an overwhelming support for exploitative apps.

I signed up for a 7-day free trial of the Windy.App. I was sure I cancelled it on day 3 or 4 because it was useless. I noticed Apple was trying to bill me for a subscription which I thought was one of my AppleCare+ subscriptions. I previously used a lower limit card to mitigate the risk and “got greedy”(I wanted to use a rewards card for my subscription and forgot my rule). Being Apple I felt safe and applied this higher limit card.

I was billed by Windy for $249.00, there is no version of reality where a weather app is worth this much, so I cancelled (still confused cause I previously cancelled it). However, Windy is refusing to issue a refund. I don’t understand why they’d forcibly compel someone to pay $249.00 for a trial even if I somehow forgot to cancel. This seems criminal. I don’t use the app and it was a free-trial.

There was a comment that stated a previous OP was trying to game the system by signing up for another free-trial. However, people seldom use these free trials and sometimes people would like another chance to try. Given a year is 365-days a few trials is a drop in the bucket.

I am sure I have cancelled free-trials before and still been charged but this was a Halide Camera App for $24.99 a year, easier to live with.

No-one should be forced to have a subscription just because they didn’t cancel something in time. In my case 2 days - meanwhile I skimmed through the APP for 15 minutes.

People here seem very jaded, either they are APP developers or there are other poverty related issues going on with them that make them this bitter.

I am concerned this WINDY app is scammy, and my data is further compromised as their refund policy is indicative of someone that has no moral compass.

I would certainly agree that if the subscription was cancelled more than 24 hours in advance, you shouldn't have been charged.

But, you're only talking to fellow users here. Not Apple. Request a refund.

And I wonder how they came up with $249? There is no such subscription charge listed.

And in my opinion, no vendor should, for any reason, be allowed to list such incomprehensible charges. How in the world are you supposed to know what you're going to be charged? Why is there more than two, which should only be annual or 1 month?
