Apple CarPlay not working on iPhone 16 Pro Max with car charger

Brought the 16 pro max and connected it to the car charger to have Apple Car play come on and nothing?!! Phone is charging but no Apple Car play prompts. I am how ever able to connect it to the Bluetooth settings of my car but this is not the same. Apple car play has several features that I can select from opposed to having Apple car connected via charging cord. So will this ever be an option or do I just have to continue to use Bluetooth and not be able to check messages use Apple map etc on Apple car play.
