Deleted photos still accessible to Twitter & Messenger

Just started last night: I deleted photos from my Photos library, and even went into recently deleted to permanently delete these photos. The deleted photos no longer appear in my Photos library, which is correct. However, eight of these photos still seem to be accessible to other apps, namely, Twitter/X and Facebook Messenger. How are these third-party apps somehow accessing photos that I permanently deleted?

I never had this problem before. I’ve never used iCloud nor were my photos ever allowed to enter iCloud. And I’ve never uploaded these photos to X or Messenger. (e.g., I never included theee photos in a post/message to anyone.) That is, as far as I know, there’s no copy of these photos that the app keeps for itself.

What to do?

Grateful for your help!
