A printer whose manufacturer still supports it with driver updates; that new product literature states it is an Apple AirPrint compatible printer or one that appears currently supported by AirPrint. For AirPrint support, the printer must be capable of an Ethernet, or wireless network connection. Devices supported by AirPrint do not require vendor drivers or software of any kind for support on macOS.

Beyond those generalities, you may receive recommendations/opinions based on other community member ownership and product experience. If not an AirPrint-compatible device, those recommendations would be at the mercy of the vendor's unpredictable plans for continued driver support on future versions of macOS.

Without knowing your needs and preferences, it's not possible to make specific recommendations, but FWIW my old Brother monochrome laser is working just fine with my M4 Mac mini. If you can tell us what you're looking for in a printer, folks here can probably recommend a specific model.

Regards.

Me too. Did you find one you like? I need to print and scan and it’s for home use. My envy 7640 had lasted 8 years but I think it’s broken and it can’t connect wired to my new iMac. My internet goes on and off so need it to be wireless and wired
