Can't access TurboTax 2024 due to keychain pop-up on Mac

I downloaded this as they no longer provide a disk like I have used for years. I get a pop up that requires password for a keychain I haver heard of and even though I finally found keychain could not figure out a password. Has anyone been able to get to the start screen of current TT? 2 TT techs could not get rid of pop up. One got me to the start screen but pop up still in the way so restarted and of course lost blue start screen. They said they would give a refund but want to do taxes.☹️. Thank you

Just when you thought it was safe to enter the water ... Although Keychains are still used in macOS Sequoia to store passwords (& other things, like certificates), Apple has now introduced the Passwords app, hoping to make it easier for all of us, as the Keychain was a bit daunting for the majority of users.

Again, this message would be "normal." TT is asking for your permission to access your macOS Keychain to get your TT user account password to install the app. This is to verify that you have a legitimate license to use this app.

Regardless, accessing the Keychain to attempt to locate a password is not too difficult, and Apple provides the following support article with the steps to do so:

The key here is that password would have been added earlier when you got the "Add this to the Keychain" prompt. If you didn't, then it won't exist there ... and you would have to find it by other means, like if you wrote it down on a piece of paper. Alternately, you can contact TT support for assistance with getting your credentials reset.

What device are you using TurboTax with: Mac or PC? Since you mentioned the keychain, would it be correct to assume that this is a Mac? If so, what exact model is it, and what version of macOS is it running? This is important to know as TurboTax 2024 has system requirements in order for it to run properly.

I believe the "keychain" the TT techs are referring to is the macOS KeyChain. This where any passwords you agree to be stored there, when prompted to do so, go. TurboTax requires user credentials (username & password) to access ... or, in this case, to install on your computer. That pop-up is asking for that password.

This an I Mac. Latest OS. Found the keychains once but had no idea how to harvest the one they wanted. I downloaded 2024 TT but access depends on this particular password in keychain and it is said to contain “personal and confidential information” which I am suspicious of. I just found a piece on keychains so will study that. Thank you for taking time.
