Missing device folders and iCloud folder in Files app after iPhone update

I hate Apple updates, continually having waste time relearning the new way, and now lost all folders on iclod and many on local device. Ipad without auto updates is fine, this is a perpetual constant pain, but without updating device becomes useless. I know what the response will be here. Apple ensure device becomes useless by filling the usable storage space with garbage improvements, I dont use, want or need. I can no longer download to device. Thank you Apple, its like we rent the device but have little control for how it operates. It should be up to user to decide, whether to update, users who dont update are made aware of the possible ramifications and should be allowed to take the risk or inconvenience that results from updating.

Software is always full of bugs, if upgrade not immediately after new release, let those who update immediately deal with the frustration, wasted time that always comes with new updates.

So why have I lost my folders?

So Apple support helped, the problem was I have 2 Appleids, somehow the impending update used the wrong AppleId so there was no icloud 5gb. Dont know why this affected bluetooth but it did!

Not sure either. But, to access this from two different Apple IDs, then Family Sharing is what needs to be used: Set Up Family Sharing - Apple Support

Q1. "Thanks for reply but I dont think I have lost anything, my ipad say the folders are still there only the file manager app on iphone doesnt display them. Deleted the app, turn it off restart, install again but same. Looks like impending update is cause."

A1. Thank you for the screenshot. Mistook it as if you had lost them.

Q2. "This is my iCloud on my ipad many folder, on the iPhone have only 1 folder, was unable to save screenshot from iphone to the cloud, was able to transfer 1 photo using airdrop, but subsequent attempts failed. Restarted phone made no difference."

A2. New iCloud Sessions: Log out of iPhone on both of these devices, and then log back in. Perhaps it all needs to resend.

Sorry to hear for the loss of data. Note that these are just user-to-user forums. You are not speaking with Apple here.

Download All of iCloud:

Loss of data is something you would have agreed to, upon opening an Apple Account. So, take this as a learning experience, knowing to always backup your devices and iCloud every-so-often --that way you'll have something to restore your data from, should it be lost or delete elsewhere.

Download All of iCloud:

To confirm that nothing is accessible, one thought would be to download all of iCloud, and then search through it in Finder on a Mac. You would download it to an external drive, and then open the drive in Finder. Search through it using the search bar on the top-right corner of the Finder window. Use my user tip: Getting a Quick and Direct "iCloud Drive-to-External Hard Drive" Download - User Tip

"The title is not correct, the update was ready to download, but not prepared and not installed. As my device useless in this state I agreed to install. After install still no change. Summary of loss functionality bluetooth airdrop fails, say it was declined but never popped up box to accept. ICloud only has a single folder device missing many folders some apps seem to be working dont know if all."

iCloud Issues:

Note that there is no such thing as an iCloud Account; all there Is, is an Apple Account. So, having made changes, contact Apple Support, seeing what they see form their end. Something just may not be seen as it should no these devices, yet Apple sees these on your account from their end.

Give Apple a Call for Apple Account Support:

These are just user-to-user forums. So, give Apple a call, show them what has occurred. You can take some photos, or open the Photos app and hover your phone’s iSight Camera over the other iPhone, while talking with them on speaker phone. See my User Tip: Screenshare your iPhone with the Camera App Enabled to Easily Converse Over-the-Phone with Apple Support - User Tip

I suspect the reason the airdrop was affected was because the contacts associated with each Appleid not identical.

The reason I have 2 Appleids is ignorance, when originally setting up my device I didnt realize my email address was crucial to routine functioning but thot it merely a point of contact.

Cant use family sharing because devices purchased in different continents.
