No sound in Safari browser, works on other browsers

When visiting a site with Safari browser with embedded video, playing said video has no sound even though I unmute the sound symbol. Other browsers work just fine. Having seen this issue reported by others, I'm asking and answering my own question on this.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.2

The problem appears to be a clumsily implemented MacOS enhancement. In Safari Settings / Websites / Autoplay, the default is "Stop Media with Sound" which is what one would expect. However, the other two options are "Allow All Auto-Play" and "Never Allow Auto-Play". The solution is to switch to "Never Allow Auto-Play" if you want to be able to block sound but later unmute it. Apple's MacOS default literally appears to "Stop Media with Sound".
